Really special service. Love the wood fired oven. I recommend the fixed price, chef's choice, family style offering. They can work around food allergies and dislikes. We just asked for a surprise that included a soft shell crab. Delicious and so much fun. Great way to discover something new.

Beautiful restaurant and very friendly service but food is mostly too bland for my tastes. We had dinner reservations here last night and were excited after reading reviews on the food. We were even more excited when they told us pastas were made fresh in house. We started with the Focaccia bread served with a ricotta orange burnt honey dip as well as the Polpette Meatballs. While the bread was fine, the ricotta dip was a cold dip which I wasnt totally expecting and the flavors just didnt do anything for me. The meatballs on the other hand were very yummy and I couldve eaten way more of those. I ordered the Hugo Spritzer which was tart, citrusy and minty. It was a nice refreshing drink after wandering around the city all day. My husband got the Black & Blue from the zero proof options and said it was not bad. For dinner I ordered the Campanelle with the 3 mushrooms including pickled mushrooms which sounded very interesting to me. My husband ordered the Triangoli stuffed with blue crab. My 7 year old got the kids pasta (cavatappi) with butter and Parmesan. When the dishes came out, my daughter tasted hers and said it tasted like they didnt put enough Parmesan cheese. This pretty much summed up our feelings on our pasta dishes as well. While they may be fresh, they generally lacked flavor for all 3 of us. Maybe their pizzas are better but I dont think I would give a try to any of the pastas again.

About
Indaco

Located on Charleston’s Upper King Street, Indaco (Italian for “indigo”) serves rustic Italian cuisine. Wood-fired pizzas, hand-crafted pastas, housemade salami and cured sausages fill the restaurant’s menu which can be enjoyed family-style or a la carte. With community tables, an open kitchen, and a comfortable atmosphere, Indaco can accommodate 100 guests for a casual night of food and drinks. The wine list is focused on affordable Italian varietals, the Negroni cocktail is on tap, and the fresh sodas are made in-house.The massive wooden doors on Upper King Street are your first indication that Indaco is different from the typical Charleston restaurant. Rustic details continue inside with butcherblock tables, lime-wash walls, and white brick. An open kitchen with nearby community tables lets interested diners keep an eye on the action inside the kitchen. Outside, a patio puts you streetside to watch Upper King Street’s vibrant nightlife scene.
