Was able to sign up 2 elderly family members within a few days to start delivery the following Monday. They offer several options for dietary restrictions, a few cultural choices.

My Fiance came up with the idea for me to volunteer at Meals on Wheels of RI. She is a social worker who helps the senior citizens in Rhode Island. I wasnt sure if this was for me but what did I have to lose? On June 27th I participated in Weatherly volunteer seminar and I was game to get my feet wet. We agreed that I would start on July 10th volunteering. What I didnt realize was how rewarding I would find this service to be. The clients that we service appreciate and depend on this service. Other than Weatherly's help with the volunteer process I would get help from Daisy most mornings when picking up my 4A route on Mondays. On 9/12 I would have an interview with Mya and Shana ultimately got the job based on my qualifications. Mya has been a great supervisor and has helped in the transition from volunteer to substitute driver thus far. Shana has also helped me in passing. On my birthday never the less I got great training from Aimee. She was a great mentor in showing me the ropes when it comes to me being alone and delivering these more complicated routes. She set a great example for me to follow when alone on my routes and it means a lot. I have felt a very warm welcome from my peers in such a fast period that I never felt in past employments. I was blown away by the birthday card and cake even if the cake was for the other James and my birthday. I feel appreciated and not just a number or a pawn. I am greatly appreciative of the respect and appreciation for my role at MOW. There is great communication with all the people who answer the phone when in need of help getting a hold of a client. I may not know everybody's name but dont feel like you dont get noticed. Meals on Wheels of RI is a very well-oiled machine and everyone knows their place. Everyone is willing to get their hands dirty. I may hang back and be introverted at times and feel out of place but everyone has made me feel like I am in the right place here at MOW. I feel the sincere care from my peers. I like staying busy and I always have had the desire to help people. I get to stay busy doing something I enjoy and that is rewarding in itself. I have always heard the saying that if you find something you love to do you will never have worked a day in your life. Thus far that is how this feels. I cant wait to see where MOW and I go in the near future.
