        My TPMS light came on after rotating my own tires, following the rotation pattern outlined in the owners manual - a 5 tire rotation with a full size spare. This is a new car and the first tire rotation. The TPMS sensor was not originally activated. Apple-Subaru wanted to charge me about $73 to reset the sensors when it SHOULD have been activated from the start... (on a $43K vehicle) I took my car to tire center that did the work for free in under 5 minutes. I tossed the spare back in as an experiment and the car picked up the TPMS, showing the car is capable of reading the 5th sensor provided it was properly activated. For reference, 73 dollars for 5 minutes of work = 876 dollars/hour.
