The city usually does its best to keep public areas looking clean and inviting to citizens. Trash is removed and equipment is maintained. Park space is adequate, and the facilities are mostly appropriate for both individuals and families.
Another note: Wilkes-Barre police do patrol the parks fairly often (though greater police presence would be nice if the resources are available), and crime is reasonably low, but it does occur, as in all cities. Make use of the city parks, but be aware of your surroundings!
