I have had a great experience renting from McCool. I needed an apartment last minute, and after looking everywhere they gave me what they had, and even negotiated with me regarding price (everyone else in West Chester was charging astronomical prices). I continued to rent through my last year of law school, and any problem I had, whether maintenance or financial, as long as I communicated it to Andy or Lois we always found an amicable solution. If youre a student I highly recommend renting from McCool.

Do NOT rent from them!!! The definition of slum lord. Extremely unprofessional and they have a horrible attitude when you question them. You wont get your full security back. Save yourself the frustration and the money and find somewhere else to rent.

I would not recommend renting from this company. We did not go into our lease thinking it would be the nicest apartment considering we were college students, but the real problem is that communication with the company was abysmal at best. One example: There was a length of time that we went back and forth with the company, convinced there was mold in the apartment. We were told there was no mold, though there was only a quick check. Coincidentally, I had mold poisoning shortly after this. I had never had it before or since. Speaking of mold, we got the apartment keys with mold lining the shower doors. Trying to get things fixed was a headache and for the last few months we just accepted things as they were, like that we wouldnt have lights in our hallway (which also werent in the unit at all when we moved in). I am not a review-writing kind of person and I am not naive enough to think we would get our entire security deposit back, but almost $1000 was kept for cleaning and painting. When we asked for an itemized receipt because there simply was no way this could be correct, they were extremely rude, basically insinuating we are stupid for not accepting it. Perhaps if we didnt get the keys to an apartment that had dirt sealed into the tile and dog hair painted into the ledges around the apartment, we would feel a little differently. Before turning our keys in, we painted over any wear and tear and even brought in our families to help clean, which was clearly much more than McCool did. To see other people have had pretty much the same experience is sad but not shocking. It is frustrating to see McCool responding so harshly and essentially calling all of the people who have experienced the same thing liars. If there is any response to this, it might be that we had renewed our lease for a second year. We had to renew this lease only three months into living there, and again we all had our own rooms and lived two blocks from town . I hope the entire company brings on someone with any communication or people skills. Truly a joke of a company.

Scammed me out of my security deposit for cleaning and painting even though the apartment was arguably in better condition during move out. Additionally, they walked in on my roommate unannounced while she was sleeping during a tour. Will be pursuing further action. Do NOT rent from them unless you want $300+ stolen from you and emotional scarring

McCool properties scammed me out of my security deposit and claimed they used it for paint and carpet when I have video proof that I had not destroyed paint or carpet. It was already awful when I had moved in. I will be taking them to small claims court unless they agree to settle this and send me some of my security deposit back. Not to mention they walked into my apartment multiple times unannounced when they must legally give at least a 24 hours notice. I did not agree for someone to walk into my bedroom while I was taking a nap in between class.
