Westmoreland Heritage Trail, Turtle Creek

Now this is what I call a heritage trail! Walked the two mile between the Turtle creek entrance and the B-Y park entrance. For a December morning the trail was busy with runners, bikers and people walking their dogs. There was much parking at both ends and I saw public port-a potty at the Turtle creek side. The trail is very well maintained, far away from the road, and interesting. Recommend for someone looking for a very easy to handle trail.

Lovely long trail with lots of bikers and walkers. Some cute stops along the route like pizza and ice cream places too.

This trail is well kept and offers beautiful scenery! This day we saw a huge snapping turtle and a blue heron. Deer are a common site crossing the trail. Everyone has always been respectful on the trail. Cyclists tend to go fast. There are walkers and runners of all ages.

We biked from Export to Trafford and back- a bit more than 9 miles each way, on a hot summer day, and loved it. Plenty of shade. The crushed limestone trail was wide and in good shape. The signage was better than any rail trail I have seen, with a sponsored mile marker post every quarter mile. The only downside was the number of road crossings (I think 11 in 9 miles) makes it NOT a good trail for kids' biking. Take the kiddos elsewhere!
