C.C. Paving - Paving, Excavating, Concrete & Sealcoating

I'll say to begin, by and large Mark did a seemingly good job at a very reasonable price. He did other driveways in my neighborhood and they all seemed to turn out similarly nice. I can't comment on the longevity of his work, but initial signs point to subpar quality (not confirmed yet). However, Mark has an incredibly unprofessional attitude and is extremely abrasive when it comes to even the slightest hint of him not being the best of the best. In his rush to tackle two driveways in one day, he unfortunately lost a truck of asphalt because the truck he brought in at 4 PM was not able to make the turn onto my driveway that he had seen before and they had seen all day while working on my neighbors. I think that's the moment that he got salty about my job. It's sad, but it's not my fault, and I didn't deserve to be treated the way I was treated. When I first met Mark, I told him that it was hard to find him online, and we started talking about me making him a website. At the completion of our job, I gave him a spot of advice, saying that he should ask his customers for reviews on Google, seeing as his current reviews place him at 2 stars and having happy customers write reviews can help him there. Mark became immediately angry that I brought it up. Saying that I gave him trouble all the way through the job. That couldn't be farther from the truth - I was flexible, let him choose his own dates without any rush or pressure, and even stopped negotiating the price of the job because at first glance he seemed like a standup guy. They used my wheelbarrow, took it, and did not return it. Mark copped to it, and offered money to replace it. When I showed him a comparable wheelbarrow that I was going to buy and told him that I didn't expect him to cover the whole thing, since it would be a brand new wheelbarrow to replace a 4 year old one, he lost it, telling me how great he was and that his better customers would have just told him to not worry about it. It was surreal. The crew left cigarette butts all over our yard, and the cleanup job was subpar - there are asphalt crumbles around my driveway and shed that they neglected to remove. Finally, we had a quad parked on our driveway for less than a day, a week after completion, and the tires left divots in the asphalt. I sent him a picture and asked what was going on. Feel free to browse the screenshots of our text exchange to see how Mark reacted in supporting his work. It was the insane ramblings of a wildly unprofessional contractor. Frankly, regardless of the results of independent testing of the compaction that we will do ourselves, I can't possibly recommend someone that would turn so vicious on a customer (a customer who also foolishly recommended him to two neighbors that worked with him as well). If you choose to go with Mark for your driveway or parking lot, just be aware of the follow-up support you'll get from him if anything goes wrong.

If your looking to have any paving or patch work done please save yourself the headache and look into a better company. This crew was so unprofessional the the owner was fighting with them the whole time because they had no clue what they were doing absolutely awful experience!!

Mark Cleary of C.C. Paving was sent a deposit check for $2,250.00. Mark cashed the check and said he was not able to complete the job. After over a year of requesting the money to be returned and having the case heard in the Common Pleas Court, I have only revived half of my deposit back. I would never recommend him for a paving job. Christa Horrigan
