Golden Paws Pet Styling Academy

My experience at The Pet Salon and the Golden Paws Pet Styling Academy were very professional and possitive. My instructor was knowledgable in all areas of grooming and never hesitated to answer all of my numerous questions or share her knowledge with me. I was always treated with kindness and respect from all of the professionals at the salon. I would recommend this training for any individual who has the desire to learn the art of grooming.

I had 3 instructors while I was there in the 9 week time frame. I spent $8,000 to go here. I found out when I graduated and started working as a groomer some places refused to hire me because they said whoever taught me to groom dogs taught me wrong. Apparently I was taught by one of the instructors to hold the clippers wrong. I had to be retaught. I'm glad I went through school to get the certificate that I needed but I would much rather be a dog bather than a groomer now. The owner of the school was very rough with the animals and I didn't really appreciate that. I would only take my animals here if I was promised the owner wouldn't touch them. The workers here are amazing though and I have no hard feelings towards them. I had one instructor who taught me a lot and she was the sweetest to the animals, I could relate to her well and she's the only one who got me through the course!

I just graduated Thursday from this school. Let me say, it was a rough start at first. The so-called instructor was one of the worst I have ever seen. She tried to tell me how to study and I have over a BA in Journalism and she is just a vet tech. This "instructor" left and the new instructor who recently graduated herself is AMAZING. The school's administrator and owner of The Pet Salon in Greentree where the school is located is very concerned about a student's progress during the course. While admittedly, there is downtime while waiting on dogs to be groomed; I can attest that you WILL learn to groom dogs while you are there. You will become quite proficient at grooming and bathing dogs, especially difficult dogs and you will develop patience which you will need to be successful as a groomer. As far as the "Golden Paws" program, the videos are HORRIBLE!! If anyone is thinking of buying these- DON'T. If you are planning to attend soon, I highly recommend that you do so; Erica is just a phenomenal instructor. I learned more from her is two weeks than I did from that so-called "instructor."
