Review Update:We originally left due to major issues with the original 3 founder/staff who started, facilitated and "ran" the school its first and second year. To my knowledge, the current staff is completely different now...all new. 2 out of 3 are parents...One whom Ive known for many years and have a lot of respect for. My daughter is pursuing a different educational path right now, however I would like end my final review by sharing the following. The friends that my daughter made in the first month attending TRVS remain extremely close friends. There is a group of about 5 of them that consistently spend time together years after they met here at TRVS. I think the intimate setting creates a space that encourages real connection between the students. I think this is a unique benefit that is'nt found easily in most educational settings. So on that note I would not be surprised if the current students find themselves being best friends in years to come.

My older daughter has been at TRVS since it's inception. Mia is 10 1/2 this year. She says what makes it so great, is that you have choice. She also says she has been able to create deep friendships with all the students because she gets to know kids of all ages and not just ones in her grade. She also has come to learn from JC that there is always a consequence to your actions---good and bad. She says she has learned to be honest and truthful. My 5 year old, Lyra couldn't be happier. She gets to move, play with her friends, do arts and crafts...Mia says she used to be shy but now she is very comfortable and has grown in her sense of security. In the beginning, Lyra always brought Mia to JC because she was scared. Now she goes by herself and even acts as a runner for cases. They are thriving.

I have two students at Three Rivers Village School and both are working on things that are valuable and meaningful to them every day. Even while the students experience broad freedoms, the staff is connected, engaged, and devoted to each one. I have a teenager there and the staff give her extensive individual help daily to support her as she works toward her post-secondary education and career goals. She's also had amazing experiences and found a growing sense of responsibility for the larger world around her by taking part in the school community and its leadership. My younger daughter also attends and loves it. She can't wait for the weekends to be over so she can get back to school. She's had some challenges adapting to a school environment for the first time and everyone there, from students to staff, has worked hard to support her and us while she deals with those challenges. The Sudbury Model program at Three Rivers Village School is an overdue change in education in our society. This school, its staff, students, board and community of parents are dedicated and capable. My family feels so lucky and grateful to have found them.
