Their lack of overall assistance with attempting to find a job after graduation was very disappointing for the amount of money spent to go through this program. Something important to note is that if you decide to do the national part-time program, you will be paired with your local TE branch for matchmaking if you are not open to searching nationally and uprooting your life to relocate elsewhere in the country. The problem with this was that my local branch (Pittsburgh) was not familiar with me whatsoever when matchmaking time came, and those of us from the part-time cohort seemed like an afterthought that were just squeezed in last minute wherever possible. I also had to ask them late the night prior to send me my interview schedule for the next morning, since it hadn't yet been sent to me well after the time they told us to expect them, and thus seemingly had forgotten about mine. I was originally promised several interviews over a period of two days, during which we were also told to make sure we were available both days, and it ended up only being three interviews total the first day, with the second day not needed whatsoever. This was disappointing, as I had taken PTO both days from my current job, as we were instructed from the start of the program. I understand that changes happen, but there was also no communication with this, and I had to be the one to reach out to them in order to obtain an answer on whether day two was needed or not, and even then, we were told to stay available that day as well before ultimately being told at the last minute that day two was not going to be needed. My actual interviews were also disappointing, as again, it seemed like they just paired me with whatever was left that no one else wanted since I came over from the part-time cohort. Two of my interviews were with recruiters who stopped replying to my correspondences within days after the interviews, and the third was with a company that only had one opening. More of my disappointment also came from the lack of support after graduating and the feeling of being on an island since they already got their money. The regular 1-on-1 meetings they had me schedule post-graduation to discuss my strategies and approach were also lacking in that the only takeaways from those were mainly them telling me to keep doing what Im doing and something will happen. It was disappointing overall that their help only consisted of posting openings that we could already find ourselves, and not actively trying contact recruiters, companies, etc. on our behalf to connect us and help more in that regard with job placement. I was also told by one of my friends who did the program in-person that there are regular emails and invites sent out for networking meetups and other similar events, which I also have never received or was included in. Much of the program ultimately seems to depend the most on matchmaking, and if you get the short end of the stick with that, it could result in your entire investment going to waste. Also beware that there isnt much support for finding jobs post-matchmaking, and gaining any traction on your own with only the bootcamp on your resume and no other prior experience is EXTREMELY difficult.

I learned more in three months at Tech Elevator than I did in years of trying to learn to code on my own. My instructor was one of the most skilled teachers of any kind I have ever learned from. He possessed a tremendous ability to explain coding concepts in terms that beginners could understand, and his easygoing personality, dad jokes, and outdated movie references made class fun. My Pathway director was warm, encouraging and helpful, and she greatly increased my confidence and ability to sell myself before I hit the job market. And my classmates were all so supportive and helpful. I attended in person and stayed after class almost every day, and I cannot recommend it enough. It allowed me to get in-person help from my classmates and instructors and provided opportunities for me to help my classmates, which deepened my understanding. But more importantly for me, attending in person and staying after class allowed me to bond with my classmates as we shared our stresses and worries, encouraged each other, helped each other understand what we were learning, and just hung out and got to know each other. I started Tech Elevator expecting an overwhelmingly stressful, miserable experience that would prove worth it in the end. But to my surprise, I ended up really enjoying the experience despite the stress, and it was largely the connections with my classmates that made it fun. One more thing. I think what makes Tech Elevator stand out compared to most other bootcamps is the level of job placement support they offer. Dont get me wrong, there is no easy and direct pipeline to a job straight out of bootcamp. For that reason I strongly recommend finding out as much as you can about the current job market for entry-level developers and factoring that in before you apply. But the Pathway team at Tech Elevator really goes out of their way to help you get hired. Tech Elevator places almost as much emphasis on job search skills as on learning to code, and they provide resources and support to help get you hired from day 1 of bootcamp through to negotiating your first offer. It is actually almost annoying how much support they give, but thats exactly what you should want if your goal is to launch a new career.

Tech Elevator was an amazing experience. The curriculum and instructors are top notch and care about your success. It is definitely not easy and requires full dedication, but I would recommend TE to anyone interested in transitioning into a career in tech.

This was an incredible experience! The amount of material that we learned was incredible. I have now been in the work field for 3 months as a full stack developer and I have used all my skills learned at Tech Elevator. The teachers are top notch and really know there stuff. There is no spoon feeding here, they guide you to the answers you seek. The placement group is second to none. Getting companies to come in and talk about careers at there businesses, mock interviews and mock tech interviews were great building blocks to be ready for a interview in the real world. I recommend Tech Elevator to anyone who is looking to enter the world of computer development. I actually had actually graduated with a degree in computer information systems back in '91 and this course brought me up to the current state of programming languages. i can truly say that after just 14 weeks I am able to really use my skills at my new job. If you have an aptitude to programming you will do incredible in this course.
