        Dr. Bermudez took Penn's Transplant Team to a new level of excellence. We were about to give up on Penn ever doing my wife's 2nd lung transplant. We were frustrated that the previous surgeon kept skipping her and never calling. Dr. Bermudez started and told us Mary was one of his top priorities. With 2 weeks of starting at HUP, he came through by performing her second lung transplant. And when done with her surgery, he transplanted the heart from the same donor. I will never forget that night 6/5/2015. It is now exactly 6 years to the hour when she was brought into the operating room. She pulled through the surgery and was released from the hospital 6 days later with a new lung and no longer needed supplemental oxygen. I consider Dr. Bermudez one of the best of the best. My family will always have a place in our hearts for such a great man.
