It's been exactly 2 years since my hysterectomy so I feel I can finally post on this. If I could, I'd give zero starts to the VNA of Philadelphia. They nearly killed me, within a few days of their care I had the worst case of Collitus my OBGYN said she had seen in over a decade and within a week I got Step B on top of all that. They promised daily care which was authorized by my insurance and my doctor, but the VNA no showed more than they showed. They blamed my doctor and my insurance saying they never got the paperwork, despite my doctor sending multiple faxes and phone calls that were ignored by the VNA. I was constantly gaslighted by the manager who promised care that never arrived. They never sent anyone who had any knowledge of wound care until after a month and she only ordered supplies that I was allergic to and could not use. I ended up reporting the VNA to Adult Protective Services 3 times for their neglect and hostile attitudes. I would not send my worst enemy to see them. When I finally got well enough to fire the VNA I got a call from one of the nurses to ask why. It turned out that nurse was supposed to be my VNA case manager and she did not even know that until after I left the VNA. When I transferred to another company I got a wound care specialist nurse from heaven who I believe saved my life. It was like night and day from the VNA. I could not ask for better care than what I received from Abramson

If you want your family to live out their days peacefully do not send them here!! This place sells lies. Where do I begin..the social worker Garrod is almost impossible to reach when you have questions and concerns your better off asking ne of the nurses! That's the only good thing I can say about the nurses. Some of the nurses kind and helpful while others are very dismissive and act like they hate their job. Most of the CNA's are very lazy minus a couple of CNA's that are kind and attentive. The food from the kitchen is basically frozen and canned foods that is being disguised as food that is being cooked by adding seasoning salt. Im almost sure the nurses are over medicating patients that come to the unit. When you ask about what meds they are giving your loved one good luck with getting an upfront and honest answer .If your family member has at least 8 months to li8ve the nurses on the IPU unit will be sure to cut that down to 7 days at best due to over medicating patients. Whatever you do please lit your family transition at home in peace or find another hospice facility I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place!

My mother just started with them 2wks ago and they seem to have a real problem with giving paperwork to the client. Why should it be a problem for a client to want to see the documentation that they're signing off on in the computers to see what's being documented about themselves, and a problem giving a copy of their LICENSE for a private insurance my mom have and the nurses, only certain ones seem to have a problem asking them to sign a document at the house and add a little paragraph of what service was done so the family can stay updated. Maybe their not used to clients having family members and ones that's going to ask questions about their love ones? And then the people answers the phone some have attitudes and want to charge $50 for a 3-4 documents needed. But they did have a couple nice people but think we will be moving our services to another company because my mother can't get other care that's needed because they can't give up documentation of what they're doing.

After many years of dealing with VNA, NEVER ONCE did I ever think Id be giving them a one star.until today!! Thanks to the incompetence of the nursing staff, my mother has been in rehab for the past few weeks (after a couple of weeks at Einstein) for a Stage 4 sacral pressure sore. At the time, we thought the nurses we had were knowledgeable. Im at work when I get a call from my caregiver who tells me that the nurse who came to take her vitals informed her that we needed to take my mother to ER immediately due to an infected bedsore. Now, before this call, we had a nurse and wound care specialist coming to our home twice a week!! Whenever I had to clean and pack the wound, there was purulent drainage coming out and the wound seemed to be getting bigger. Because of the size of the wound and the by now gray pus sloth that was coming out of it, I kept asking if thats what was supposed to happen, and the nurse/wound care specialist informed me that the saline and Santyl was doing its job. Well.by doing its job, we get not only an infection in the wound but also bacteria going into her bloodstream! If the nurse hadnt taken a picture of the wound and showed it to her supervisor, we would have still been caring for her at home. Not only that, but she would also have gotten sepsis!! Twice I sent an email to the Senior Vice President of Health Care, Tammy Berry, and TWICE I didnt get a response! Thanks to VNAs incompetence, my mother is now lying in a rehab with a wound vac attached to her backside and getting turned every two hours.
