Ashton Cigar Bar

18MAR24 - I was in midtown for a conference, and we walked down to Brooklyn Diner for lunch. I had the pastrami Reuben and it was amazing. The place is nice, quaint and was fairly quiet. The service was spectacular! If you get a chance ask for Ash as your waiter. He is fantastic and has a story and a book coming out Ash - if you make plans to visit Raleigh, let me know.

Overrated. Not a high-end experience. The entire atmosphere is more of a small pub than a ritzy cigar bar. 80% of customers are forced to sit at high-top tables or the bar; true lounge chairs and sofas are barely offered on the "other" side of the room. Hopefully, you won't get stuck by far edge of the bar, because manager and servers will congregate there and awkwardly be right in your face. Behind the barstools and the main section of tables there is essentially a narrow main hallway that leads to a lot of distracting traffic of people going to and from. Didn't appreciate the speed-walking bespectacled blonde waitress with an smug attitude. Somehow with this lame design, they think it's grand, just because of the to-the-ceiling display of bottles and large liquor selection.

I thought places like this were anachronism from a time when smoking was the thing to do and there were no known negative health benefits to doing so. I went in for a quick pint thinking the name was a tribute to a former condition, I was surprised to discover it was actually a cigar bar! The facility is strangely clean and white, but it smells bad and is so overwhelmed with it gave me an almost immediate headache. I was quick to depart to find a pub anywhere else with clean air.

Cool cigar bar with tons of drink options. Very friendly staff.
