The amount of roaches in this place is jaw dropping...the roaches should be paying rent. These roaches are very large roaming the hallways and walls, the carpets are so old and extremely dirty. The elevator is consistently broken and it is an accident waiting to happen. Apartments are large and initially look nice, location is central but it is NOT what it seems. Do not move in.

I'm currently a resident at Bala Apartments this place is the absolute worst. The only good thing is the location and the fact that the rent is inexpensive. The new management company took over last year and they are a disaster. The elevator has been broken for over a year, they don't fix anything, the mice and roach situation is out of control. They rarely clean the building so every ones trash juice is all over the steps. When it snow it takes them at least a day and a half to clear the snow. It takes them forever to deal with any issues if they deal with it at all. The building security is pretty much nonexistent. I've gotten several packages stolen. Basically if you don't mind theses issues than this is probably the place for you.

Do not, I repeat, do not move to this hell hole. Ive been living in A building for 2 years now. The elevators have been broken since May 2023. I live on the 5th floor and I have been struggling to do laundry and do grocery shopping due to having to carry everything up 5 flight of stairs. When I call maintenance to put me on the back up freight elevators, the maintenance worker (Dylan) usually has a bad attitude, thats when he even answers my phone calls. I have several other appalling stories about this elevator, but Ill tell you all one: I found my elderly neighbor having a seizure outside of her door in June 2023. I dialed 911 immediately. When the EMT workers finally came, they asked how could they take her down to the main level with the broken elevator and asked if there was another elevator. I told them that where was a freight elevator but residents arent allowed to use it without a maintenance worker who has the keys. I called maintenance about 5 times and no one answered. I gave the phone number to the EMT worker and maintenance answered in one ring! He ignored me! He most likely ignored because I call them a lot. Its not my fault that I cant carry groceries and laundry up 5 flights of stairs. When I began complaining to maintenance about the elevator, they would always says say Were working on it. Although I never actually seen anyone working on the broken elevators until about 1 month ago (March 2024). A few times, I called to schedule the freight elevator. When it came time, no one would show up. I called downstairs and they said it had to be postponed because maintenance was busy. Why do they seem to have one maintenance worker throughout 5 buildings?!?!?!. I spent my precious day off waiting for maintenance to show up just so I could do laundry. Ive lost 7 pounds after carrying up food, clothes, laundry, kitty litter, suitcase, etc. Also, I cant shop like I want because I know I can only carry so much. For example, I avoid buying heavy groceries like potatoes, apples, juice, bottled water because I know I cant carry it. I have a huge mirror that my mom got me for Christmas sitting in her house because I cant carry it up 5 flight of stairs! My friends, co-workers, parents, patients and literally everyone Ive had social contact with over the past year have all asked why I havent snapped and cursed these people out. I tend to be overall nice and never really complained until a few months ago. Management offered me an apt on the lower level of B building. I only accepted for now because of my lease and I still havent found a house. (Im looking to buy a home). Okay, so today is the day Im supposed to be moving to B building, 1st floor. I arranged to move today. I call in the morning and they told me that the apartment wouldnt be ready until before 3 pm. They close at 5 pm. They call at 2 pm and said they are ready for me. I told them I needed time to pick up my dad and brother, and friend who would be helping me move the heavy furniture. I pick them up, waited outside the office for 30 minutes. We seen Dylan down the hall and he didnt even acknowledge us. They told me that the maintenance worker had to leave to fix an emergency leak. We went upstairs, took apart my entire apartment and left everything in the hallway. They call me at 5 pm and said that they are closed for today and I had to wait until tomorrow. I explained that today is the only day I had help. My family had to work tomorrow. The office worker had no explanation for me. Guess what? Me, my dad and brother are carrying what we can (air conditioner, couches, food, clothes, down 5 flights of stairs with no elevator because today is they only day they can help me. These people have the nerve to raise my rent. I am seriously considering sueing these people. I should have not been paying rent from June 2023 until now April 2024. I want my money back. Do not live here! No working elevators, rude employees who leave you hanging, high rent, and workers who cant wait to get off at 5. They do not care about you at all.
