I would give this zero stars if possible. My son was a resident here and ended up admitted to a psychiatric unit. The majority of his possessions were left at Gaudenzia. From the psychiatric unit, he was admitted to an alternate drug and alcohol facility. I phoned Gaudenzia expressing my intentions to pick up his things. I spoke with a lady who identified herself as a supervisor and she told me his things would be gathered up and ready for me or my designee to pick up Saturday (today) or Sunday. I was told she would be working Saturday so that day would be better to come. I live 70 miles each way away so it is a bit of a hardship to make this drive. I began calling Saturday morning at 8 am and have been getting the run around ever since. I was told this person would be there at 1 and I needed to call then and speak to her. At 1:15, she still was not there. I called again at 2, this time I was told she had stepped out. No one ever asked for my name and contact information. I’m beginning to think my son’s belongings are gone and that is why no one will give me a straight answer about anything. This is very disappointing. Individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues should not have to worry about their belongings not being secured in a facility like this. I will gladly change my rating if I finally track down his possessions AND nothing is missing, but unfortunately, I’m not going to hold my breath on this one. It puzzles me why this woman did not leave a message for the staff that these things were going to be collected this weekend...then she seems to be trying very hard to be avoiding my calls. Sad that people are forced to live like this. Just because they have mental health and/or substance abuse issues doesn’t mean they don’t have the right for their belongings to be safe especially when their family is willing to pick them up in a reasonable time frame.
I’ll be on the phone with the administrators first thing Monday morning.
