I contacted Volvo HQ a few weeks ago due to an airbag recall. I was told that I had to contact the dealer to schedule and to ensure they had the airbag in stock. And then I was hung up on. This was for my teen daughters older Volvo. I found the closest dealer (about 25-30 minutes away), called them told them what I was told by Volvo and that I needed to make sure they have the airbag and to schedule an appointment. The gentleman was friendly, took my into, year and make of the car and schedules the appointment. The day of I arrived a few minutes early, gave them more info, registration, etc and take a seat in their nice waiting area. About 40 minutes later a different gentleman comes out and says we dont have the airbag for your vehicle. We need to order it and can have it here on Monday (this was Thursday). Our system doesnt update inventory. I was dumbfounded. He then asked if Id like to schedule an appointment for next week. I replied that Id prefer a phone call once they actually have it because I had to rearrange my schedule, switch cars and get a ride for my son that day. He was not apologetic at all. I left. Monday rolls around no call but I honestly didnt expect one before Tuesday anyway-you know give them time to go through deliveries and make the call. I got busy that week and finally call on Friday to ask about the airbag since no one called me! They confirmed it was there and I scheduled another appointment. My daughter took the car and I think it took maybe 30 minutes or so for them to replace it. Ive been in customer service for 30 years. Im also a small business owner and I can honestly say that there would have been a note, reminder, something to call my customer and let them know the item was in and to schedule an appointment. I also would have been so apologetic for the initial mix up. There was no cost to the service due to it being a Volvo recall so its not like they could have given me a discount. Its frustrating that I was out about 90 minutes of my time (as well as gas money) on that initial visit. Ill go to the Devon dealership should I need anything for either of my Volvos in the future.

The mechanics here are absolute cash hogs. They will perform $5k worth of work before letting you know your car needs rebuilt, when its already visibly totaled if a competent, ethical mechanic is looking at the frame of the car. Customer service is great though.
