Dr Smirh is one of the most kind professional doctors that I ever met! He was very understanding with my concerns and gave me great feedback regarding my concerns. Most importantly, we worked togdther on a treatment plan that would help me in the presence of my situation. I reommend him to anyone who is having a back, hip or leg problem. Thank you Dr Smith for all you have done and is doing to help me! Marlene W

Had a knee replacement years ago. My first one by Dr. Smith, my second one by another doctor. My first one by Dr. Smith was a complete nightmare. I wrote a review years ago but it never showed up so I want to make sure it does this time. I have never taken drugs in my entire life, I am overweight which makes pain more intolerable after a surgery like this. Dr. Smith is so on the extreme end of not wanting to use pain medications after surgery that he wouldn't even prescribe me Motrin. He prescribed me Vicodin and they didn't work for me, I was in such extreme pain I couldn't even get out of bed to go to the bathroom let alone start doing therapy (which is really important for this surgery). I think Dr. Smith needs to realize that 2-3 weeks of appropriate pain medication after surgery is necessary for patients with a lower pain tolerance to be able to do therapy while recovering . You aren't going to prescribe the meds after that so I don't understand what is the fear surrounding addiction, someone can get addicted to Vicodin after taking it for 2 days as well. Start prioritizing patients right to heal appropriately and pain free over the opiate crisis. There is such thing as a healthy balance to pain management medications, the answer isn't 100% rearing away from them altogether. Speaking from a surgical perspective, I can't even say the work was worth the pain either. To this day, the knee that I got done from Dr. Smith is way worse than the one I got done ethically by my other surgeon. It clicks, it gets stuck it is shaped weird, bends weird and it just doesn't feel right to me. If you know you are going to need appropriate pain management after surgery do yourself a favor and don't go to Dr. Smith. He's so arrogant and nasty and doesn't even listen to you even if you are crying in his office trying to explain to him what's going on. He's just too far down the opioid conspiracy rabbit hole. It deters him from giving humane patient care. Shocker, my second surgeon gave me the appropriate pain management for my second knee and I'm not a Drug addict.
