Liberty Mutual offers decent rates and, treats its paying clients well enough. However, Liberty Mutual is does not handle claims either professionally or personally. In May our house was hit by hail that was nearly the size of a golf ball. We had a company review the damage to see if we would face any potential leaks and the company found what it thought was damage. I contacted Liberty Mutual to file a claim. The insurance agent was kind on the phone, and we scheduled a time for him to come and look at the roof. On the day of the appointment, while I was in a meeting, my claim agent's supervisor called to say that the agent was sick and could not come to see my roof. Instead of sending the agent, the company sent a third-party contractor to review my roof. The agent originally said that he would use a third-party contractor for "liability" purposes only, and yet the entire claim rested on this contractor's brief visit and cellphone pictures. The contractor had no interest in me as a customer or a client; he was callous, uninterested and curt. By relying on this contractor, the company took no interest in me as a customer even though I have paid them on time and without fail for over 6 years. While I understand that my house may not have sustained sufficient damage for the company to pay out repairs, the fact that Liberty Mutual would not even send an agent to my house but rely on cell phone pictures from a third-party contractor shows me that this company does not care for its customers, even though it is happy to take their premiums. Use a different company for homeowners insurance.
