Sallavanti & Cotter Family Medicine

We just moved to the area about 6 months ago and needed to find a doctor. MOST doctors are very booked up and we could not get into see them for weeks if not months. We have been able to call in and have same day visits with the doctors at this office several times, and I have been very happy with the doctors we seen. The front desk has been friendly and very easy to talk to. I am so glad I came upon this office.

The doctors and nurse practitioners here are FANTASTIC! The staff is lovely and they are do a great job navigating a very difficult and demanding healthcare paperwork system. Dr. Cotter and Dr. Sallavanti can be counted on for great healthcare!

I've been coming to Sallavanti & Cotter since I moved to the Lancaster area in 2019. I've never been truly satisfied with the service, but I also didn't have any huge issues until my most recent visit in June 2022. I had a small bump that I came in to have looked at. My normal NP, Sharon Wiggins, was out of the office, so they scheduled me with Karen Miller. Karen looked at the bump, told me she had no idea what it was, and said I needed to see a surgeon to determine what the bump was / have it removed. I told her I had no interest in seeing a surgeon; however, she still sent me to the UPMC referral's team. Here are my issues: -I was charged $236 for the visit. On the bill it states that I was billed for a 30-39 minute appointment. I was in the room for maybe 10 minutes and saw Karen Miller for maybe 5 minutes. I wasn't even in the building for 30 minutes. -Healthcare is the only profession where you can be incompetent in your practice and still charge for the service. It's crazy to me that Karen can look at me, say she has no idea, and bill me $236! -I contacted UPMC billing and they reached out to the Sallavanti & Cotter office manager whose response was "I'm sorry she wasn't satisfied with her visit." I do have to say that Shameta in the billing customer service office is a pleasure to speak with and I know she did what she could to help. -I also contacted Sallavanti and Cotter three times on my own to speak with the office manager. Every time I was told she was out of the office, but that they would give her my name and number and ask that she call me back. I have yet to receive a call back. -The UPMC referral team relentlessly reached out to me several times a week to get me scheduled to see a surgeon after I told Karen I had no interest in being referred. (Meanwhile, the bump went away on its own!) I was hoping they would listen to my concerns and that this would be just a misunderstanding; however, with the lack of response and consideration from the practice, I will be finding a new primary care at this point. There are plenty of other practices in the Lancaster area and I suggest going elsewhere if you are looking.
