In January 2023, we signed a contract with MBC Building and Remodeling to build a 3 season room with screened panels/vinyl stackable windows leading from our sunroom. Early May work began and due to many errors along the way, weve been left with a covered porch without the panels that will not pass inspection due to its elevation from the ground. I kept a daily diary covering the 2 months MBC was here, but will only mention a few items. To start, Mike, the owner, forgot to order roof trusses; therefore, they had to hand built rafters due to the length of time to order trusses. They slanted the deck, which didnt need to be done because this was to be an enclosed area. Once the rafters were being installed, the lead carpenter realized the measurements provided by Mike were incorrect. These had to be torn down and redone. As they continued to build the structure, they neglected to brace the sides, which lead to further alignment issues. At one point, they were cutting, strapping, pulling and hammering in an attempt to square things up. After this, it was time to insert the panels; however, they wouldnt fit as these were rectangular and MBC had now created oblique openings, different sizes. I should mention at this point that the panels should have been ordered after the openings were created, but MBC decided to order prior to the structure being built. When my husband asked Mike if he was going to reorder these panels his response was Id rather not. They removed a 34 window from my sunroom so that a ThermaTru door, 15 light, grill between glass could be installed. Mike showed up one day with a 32 door that wasnt even ThermaTru. When I pointed out that the door wasnt ThermaTru or the style I originally requested, his response was I guess I wasnt paying attention. I cannot recommend this company and would never have them back to do anything for me. As I stated above, as of this writing, I have a covered, slanted porch that cannot pass inspection, and its taken me 4 months to calm down from this experience to compile a review.

I can't imagine a living room renovation project being managed worse than what my husband and I experienced. The worker assigned to our project was not a finish carpenter nor was he a professional painter. A new picture window that was the feature of the renovation was not centered between two existing windows and was off by a few inches. It is VERY noticeable. Although we were told at the time the contract was signed that they would match the moulding of the new window with the other windows in the room, they could not find a match and wanted us to remove the custom moulding on all the other windows to match the generic moulding they found. They are NOT a custom contractor and their work is subpar. Service: Remodeling

As a former self employed contractor, I would have never allowed a job to be run the way Mike ran our project. Construction debris and tools left onsite for weeks at a time, house filled with dust on more than one occasion(requiring hours to clean in both instances). Inexperienced workers who would show up not knowing how to perform their job and not properly equipped to do it. In my current profession, I encounter contractors daily. Almost all are professionals, who perform professionally.MBC is NOT a professionally run business. Mike didnt even have the professional courtesy to thank us for our business. DO NOT hire this contractor. Service: Home addition construction

Mike and his team helped us bring our 40 year old kitchen and bathroom up to the 21st century... We have a small home and considered doing a major renovation, moving walls, and even a second story, but decided we wanted to stay within our footprint and to maximize the efficiency of the space we have.
While no one is perfect, MBC was perfect for us. Trish and Gerardo were the team at our house on a daily basis, and they were very respectful of our home while transforming our home in front of our eyes. Mike was also on sight on a near daily basis, and on the days he wasn't, he was reachable via email or text. This being our first renovation, we didn't know exactly what to expect, but we knew that things would come up as work progressed... we tried not to loom over the crew as they worked, but definitely noticed things at the end of the day. Mike, Trish and Gerardo were receptive to questions and preferred that things be brought up sooner than later so that they could be properly addressed. We heard several times that at the end of the project, he wanted us to love our new kitchen and bathroom. After Trish and Gerardo were done, Mike continued to be responsive in completing "punch list items", and stressed to call with any additional concerns.
Working with a smaller crew and utilizing semi-custom cabinets definitely helped keep the price down, as our project was far more economical than other estimates that we received. We are very thankful for all the hard work that was put in, and certainly the finished product, and are happily cooking in our new kitchen. We are already thinking about our next project for MBC to tackle to continue making this our dream home.
