Pioneer Woods

I moved from a 3 bedroom house on an acre wooded lot to pioneer woods, to a two bedroom apartment. I was apprehensive and uncertain. However I found well maintained surroundings, a well appointed apartment and, importantly, quick and efficient service response when needed. Hence my five star rating.

2 bedroom 1 bath apartment: -Overpriced. ($1,485/mo) -Thin walls. No insulation so you hear EVERYTHING. -Poor heating. Consistently had thermostat at 77 and master bedroom was still cold. -Tiny appliances. Washer and dryer are small, stackable units. No folding table in the laundry room. -Halloween bugs everywhere. Honestly, youre better off finding a used trailer in a trailer park and paying lot rent. It would probably be nicer and cheaper. -

I have lived here for 6 years and just renewed my lease. The thing I appreciate most about Pioneer Woods is the maintenance team. They are so kind and professional. My maintenance tickets have always been resolved within 24hrs. I never worry about letting them in my home when I'm away and when I'm here we have great chats!

Pioneer Woods is solid apartment complex. Units are fairly priced and up to date with the standard amenities. That includes in unit washer/dryer, dishwasher, electric stove, etc.. This is a huge plus, because (this is Lancaster County after all), many other apartments are not so up to date and lacking in even the most bare essentials for 2023. Property Management are also very open with communication and frequently hold events. Maintenance are fantastic and very responsive. Everything is handled through a portal (including maintenance requests, lease renewals and rent payments), which definitely makes things more convenient. Pets are also allowed which is really awesome. There is also access to an offsite pool that is connected to Boyd Wilson. Neighbors are decent. Most folks stick to themselves and its a very quiet area. 15 minutes from route 30. Which brings me to my only caveat. Pioneer Woods is on the edge of Willow Street. So its not exactly located in the city of Lancaster. The complex can feel isolating at times due to the location. Pioneer Woods isnt even in the Lancaster city school district (instead part of the Lampeter - Strasburg school district). So it often feels like there is no way of knowing about events in the city. Nor is the city accessible due to Pioneer Woods being off the bus route. You will absolutely need a car if you want to get anywhere. Thats really the only negative, but not necessarily a reflection on Pioneer Woods. I knew the location when I signed the lease, but others should know that just because the city is only a 15 minute drive away, it is not as accessible as it may seem. Overall, Pioneer Woods is a very nice and quiet complex with affordable priced units. Happy to call it home. :)
