Absolutely deplorable. Dirty toilets, shower gel/shampoo had been ripped off the shower wall. Fire pit didnt work apart from a tiny flame the size of a golf ball. It was also in a disheveled state, and half of the lights strung overhead were out. It was deplorable in the lobby and rooms; stains everywhere (bench in lobby, and couch and desk chair in room). The carpet in the room was not vacuumed. Food and crumbs on bed. I thought the inside of the toilet was stained but taking some tissue to the inside of the bowl it wiped right off (see the 2 pics); so it was from not being cleaned. Mentioned concerns to staff and they didnt care, just we have some issues with housekeeping. The photos I took speak for themselves. Do not stay here.

I had booked our room via the Chase portal at the last minute, nonrefundable. I then checked the reviews on Google maps and was concerned- yikes! However, our room on the 4th floor was extremely nice. They are currently in the process of renovating their 4th floor, so I'm guessing this room is one that has been completed.

Do NOT stay here. This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I've stayed at Super 8's that were FAR superior in EVERY way to this dive. I'll add that I'm a Hilton Honors member and typically stay at a Hilton or Homewood. I have never stayed at a Home2, nor heard of one until this trip. I erroneously assumed a certain level of quality as the brand is allegedly owned by Hilton. The only reason I marked service with 3 stars is that the staff seem to be unable to do much about many of the problems experienced. Where they could, they helped. The staff does not seem to be the problem. First, we are being charged over $1600 for a 2 night stay during the '24 eclipse. Yes, I thought this was excessive, but was willing to pay since I had booked fairly late and the places I would typically stay (on the marina) and no availability. Given the astronomical charge, I would assume that the BASICS would be granted/functional. Not the case. The first room that we were given, on the first floor, had NO operating blinds or window coverings. We're talking about a room at ground level, with windows facing outside, that had ZERO ability to be covered. I am a single mother, traveling with my child. This is a serious safety issue and there is no way in hell I'm staying in a room where literally anyone could watch us sleep, dress, whatever. I was tempted to leave right then, but the staff explained that the hotel had just been through a major renovation project and that not everything was exactly working as expected yet, but that they'd get us a new room stat. I will say that the staff has been extremely responsive and wonderful. Ok, so we're in the second room. One lamp just doesn't work (was informed later that they know there are some lighting issues and they're trying to get lightbulbs/lamps in all the rooms. (Remember.....this is over $1600 for two nights). Then I sent my son to the front desk to get replacement batteries for the nonfunctional remote. Check the blind situation (this room is on the second floor) and there are sheer window coverings, but ZERO light blocking blinds/curtains/anything. And it is VERY bright at night with the street lights and lights from other businesses. There was NO way to block the light. And therefore, absolutely poor sleep. Sunday night, I suppose they decided to take on a construction project right outside the windows because I was woken up at ~130AM then ~5 AM by the sounds of crashing, metal being tossed around, something that sounded like a damned bulldozer, and people shouting to one another. I guess it didn't matter THAT IT WAS THE MIDFLE OF THE NIGHT AT A COMPLETELY FULL HOTEL. This place is seriously horrible. Then Monday morning (current), I need to do a little work before heading out for the eclipse and my son needs to sign into his classes. So we sit down to get some work done and cannot sign on to wifi. My son calls the front desk and is told that the wifi is out. REMEMBER, THEY ARE CHARGING $1600 FIR A TWO NIGHT STAY IN THIS DUMPSTER FIRE! My kid was marked absent from classes, we called his school and explained that we're currently staying in the worst hotel in Erie and he'll need to make his work up later. Other issues that I would not expect for these prices: Broken hand hold in bathroom (looks like a section was just ripped out and they didn't have time to replace it during this renovation project. The breakfast food was atrocious. They did have a bowl of fresh fruit and a waffle maker. No eggs or potatoes or anything that you'd expect from a homewood or Hilton. They had these vending machine type breakfast sandwiches...I did try one and can attest that it's absolutely dog food quality. I'm on the second floor. It's raining Monday morning. And I can hear the water pouring through the walls and above me as if I'm on the 4th floor. WORST room and hotel I've stayed in for many, many years. I will never stay at a Home2 again and think that Hilton should be embarrassed to be associated with this location. Rooms: See post. Food & drinks: See post. Noteworthy details: See post.
