Grow Our Food Landscaping

We've really appreciated Boris's guidance on our fruit trees and vegetable garden during the last two years since we bought our first home. Boris helped us choose regionally appropriate apple varieties to plant in our backyard, provided us with vegetable plant starts, and advised us on our vegetable garden. My wife absolutely loves fresh veggies from the garden, and between the plump juicy tomatoes and the sweet delicious peppers, our dream garden became a reality! I've been working with Grow Our Food since 2021. Our long-term, on-going relationship that has helped me gain confidence that I could garden on my own. Grow Our Food advised us about how to improve our thick, clay-based, former-pig-farm soil and provided garden layout & design, so that I knew exactly where each vegetable patch would go and where the footpaths would be. They came back in the spring to help us weed & prepare the garden. We also have been getting our vegetable plant starts from them for the last 3 seasons and been very satisfied.

I met Boris through our involvement in local environmental action groups and worked with him on adding some fruit trees to my sustainable landscaping. He recommended appropriate plantings for our region, my particular terrain (a natural meadow with almost all native plants), and my eating preferences, and planted them in fall 2022. The four trees, all a good size, were planted, with deer protection, in two sections of my property. I'm looking forward to some fresh, local, organic fruit soon - although none has yet borne enough for eating, both serviceberry trees bore fruit in the first year after planting. Boris is a thorough professional, very knowledgeable, committed to sustainable environmental practices, and very pleasant to work with. He took his time to walk my property and listen to my ideas and shared his experience and creativity with a step by step process that I could build on. Boris has made all the difference in how I maintain my garden. I am recently retired and have great ambitions for the landscape. He has helped design, purchase and install plant material.
