Great people everytime especially Liz and Brenda! They do such an exceptional job. Those 2 are amazing workers and take time to give attention even with being under staffed.

This was my first time donating plasma in about a month. I had received a text that said if I came in, I would receive a $100 bonus. I went in, excited to get this bonus. I went through the questionnaire, then was called to one of the private booths. The lady had me jump on the scale and said “wow, you’ve lost a lot of weight since last time you were here.” I then went on to donate plasma, and then as I was coming to the end of the donation, I had looked up and realized that they were taking 825ml of plasma from me. The thought had then occurred, okay Bruce it’s been a month or so since you’ve been here and you’ve been steadily losing weight. So when the lady came to finish everything up from my session, I asked her “hey, how do you know how much plasma gets taken from you?” And she kindly replied that “if you’re 150 and up, you donate 825ml and if you’re below 150, then you donate 600ml.” At this point I had asked her, okay so is there any sort of documentation that you give your clients so they can see how much plasma they are donating at each weight level. I then asked the lady, what was my weight for today. She then scrolled through my paperwork, and her mouth dropped open as she said it was exactly 150. I told her how I have been losing weight over the past few months and how I keep track of my weight with a BMI scale every morning and that I know that I’ve been under 150, so if I had know that I donate less plasma being under 150, I would’ve taken my jacket off. Then I wondered, why didn’t the staff have me take my jacket off, or my phone out of my pocket before getting on the scale. Also, I had asked. “how come the lady in the booth didn’t have me take off my jacket or everything out of my pockets” If I was truly 150 exactly, then taking any bit of my jacket or clothing off would’ve dropped me to the next level of giving less plasma. Also, the lady had even said to me “wow, you’ve lost a lot of weight since last time you were here” so you would think that if Grifols cared about their clients giving plasma safely, then they would double check their weight after having such a sudden weight change. Why are these amounts of plasma being taken in correlation to your body weight not being disclosed? Why are clients not being told to take their jackets off, phones out of their pockets, etc when being weighed? These are peoples lives. What are the adverse effects if someone donates too much plasma? What are the effects if someone has too much plasma taken from them when they aren’t supposed to have that much taken? Why is this okay and how did they let this happen? I’ve donated plasma in the past before and it’s caused me to get very tired or even possibly faint. What if someone has too much plasma taken out of them because of a staff at Grifol’s and then gets in a car accident because they fainted due to having too much plasma taken from them? I asked the manager, and they said it’s not their problem. The computer decides how much you donate. I asked them “why wasn’t I told to take off my jacket or things out of my pockets” to which they then said, “they never told you to do that?” I said no. Then they flipped and said “oh, well your body weight changes from day to day based on what you eat. I said “well if that is the case, then why is there different categories for how much people donate and what are the risks associated with donating more than you should?” They told me that they are not responsible and that it is not their problem.
