Jen, Thanks for the response. The tax pro there was great (John Rotunda). He even called and got our rate lowered $120 to approximately $350 for the 30 minute session it was. I guess that is where my issue with JH lies, your cost friendly alleged approach to tax accounting was supposed to cost me nearly $1,000/hr. This is simply absurd. The physical act of the tax inputs were 4 or 5 documents and took less than 20 minutes. We discussed the rate longer than the taxes.

Weve used JH for years, but we are moving to an actual accountant next year. First off, there was so much chaos regarding our appointment. Two days before, they moved our appointment to the Walmart location (which we hate). The computers wouldnt work. After about a half hour, they decided to take us in the office we originally were scheduled to go to. Ok, whatever. Technology stinks sometimes and it is what it is. But today, we got a letter from the IRS, saying we didnt claim our EIC, which would add a significant amount to our return. Like how does a professional tax preparer miss this?! Thank goodness the IRS caught it, but now we are wondering what else JH preparers may have missed over the years.

No math shown on return except for refund. Big difference in last year's return and this year's, even though gross and withholding are very close Although refund is less than 800 less without calculations figures to compare to last year's taxes filed by turbotax.....j.h.tax service needs to show their work.the only benefit to the j.h.tax service is speed .found the cost a little bit more than I expected. But hard to say with out showing the math ......
