SunGarden Montessori Children's House

As current parents of two children at SunGarden (one in each room), we couldn't be happier with our experience.  New to the area, we wanted a local Montessori provider where we could feel connected to the community.  From the first day we dropped in (literally) to tour the school, the director, guides, and staff made us feel welcome.  Since then, we've continued to have great experiences with the school, the parents, and the community.  We love living in West Linn and often comment that SunGarden was the best decision we've made here.Specific to the school, we love the building and yard, the amount of outdoor time the kids get (rain or shine, they go out!), the pictures we get from the guides, and the ongoing parent/guide conferences.  There are opportunities to connect with the guides, have drinks and coffee with other parents, learn about the curriculum, and interact with the whole community (annual events).SunGarden is the right place if you're looking to be a part of a Montessori community where your children will be cared for and given individual attention.

If you are looking to work here, I would highly suggest researching other facilities before applying. I believe the school is running on appearances and has control problems, honest communication issues, and unrealistic expectations underlying upper management. If you do apply, know that you should have a type A personality & perfectionistic attitude. Also understand that you are there to please those higher in rank. I did not feel considered an equal even though I dedicated myself with love and care to the children and the community.

Best Montessori School in the metro area! My daughter, niece and nephew all attended SunGarden for the full 3 year children's house program as well as the summer programs. It was the best educational foundation we could have given these wonderful children. They were beyond prepared for primary school and for independence in life. The financial investment was worth it as well. With their lifelong love of learning they carry with them they have achieved many successes in their educational endeavors. If you are in search of a Montessori education for your children, do yourself a favor and schedule a tour today. There is nothing like seeing the children in action...something you can only get a glimpse of via the internet.

Both of my older children attended SunGarden for preschool (my youngest isn't quite old enough yet).  When I was first looking for a preschool for my oldest, I was immediately impressed with the atmosphere and community at SunGarden.  It was a supportive environment for my son to learn more independence.  My daughter was able to complete the full 3 year cycle (including the kindergarten year) at SunGarden.  She especially loved the outdoor and garden program but also learned a lot more academically than we anticipated.  My son completed public school kindergarten a year before my daughter completed kindergarten at SunGarden so I had a close comparison.  SunGarden and Montessori education gave my daughter excellent preparation for 1st grade.  The only things that were hard for her transitioning to public school were being frustrated that she couldn't explore/continue a topic/learning more in depth and that she was used to the peaceful SunGarden ways of purposeful interactions and teachers really in-tune to child behavior (i.e. being able to observe the child and respond/guide from their whole personality/needs).  I think these were great benefits of SunGarden and Montessori education in general, but a change when she went to public school.I definitely recommend anyone interested in Montessori education visit SunGarden to see if it is a good fit for your child/family.
