When books are sold with special prices they should make it more clear. They have a lot if used books with old stickers from ither stores on them how can customers know if that price is their "individually priced" price or their normal pricing? Very over priced location as others have said as well. Avoid the Q street st vinnies

I think its funny how Ive read so many reviews where the employees accuse the customer of switching tags. I had the same thing happen to me and it was absolutely embarrassing being called out in line when I havent done anything wrong. Besides that, the prices are absurd and the employees all follow you around thinking youre going to steal their over priced items. By far this has been the worst location Ive been to. Do better.

St. Vinnies makes money hand over fist in their thrift stores, but I wish there were a way to make them treat their customers more kindly. The last few times I went in this store, I got nasty stares from their employees. I asked an employee if an item was still on sale while I was waiting for the store to open, and they said ', I'm kind of busy right now,' in the rudest tone humanly possible then went around the corner to smoke a cigarette. When I checked out, the newish employee acted like I shouldn't even be allowed to exist and that is was a privilege that I should be allowed to buy anything in their store. I remember around ten years ago, in one of their now closed stores, I asked one of the former store managers to exchange an item I found was counterfeit. He came very close to not doing it but gave in, and said disgustingly ',this is a charity.' It's a charity, and at that point I had already been shopping in their stores for ten years spending tons of money, so treat the custom right if you ever want him/her to come back because afterall ',it's a charity.'

This location has very unfriendly staff. While browsing, expect staff to invade your space multiple times to place things on shelves or racks without a simple "excuse me" or cough to announce their presence. Price tags mean nothing so expect your decently priced USED item's tag to be changed at checkout with sublte accusations that you switched the price yourself. If you need to return something (for store credit), expect more accusations that you stole the item. I've worked retail for many years and I know how it burns your soul alive but holy hell I feel like I'm in a simulation everytime I go there.

Business Response on Google Dec 30th, 2023
We always appreciate feedback from our customers, and I’d like to share some perspective on the pricing of certain items at St. Vinnie’s. The higher-priced items you mentioned were likely among those we procured from high-end retailers (and not for free). St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County has built relationships with several upscale, nationally known retailers and pays the freight to ship items from them — overstocks, customer returns, floor models, etc. — from across the country to Eugene, and then repairs and/or refurbishes them as needed before offering them for sale. While they can’t be sold as “new,” and we can’t advertise the names of the retailers for contractual reasons, these are essentially unused and mostly not even preowned products, except those that were customer returns. You would see these same items sold new in the retailers’ stores, catalogs and online storefronts for at least twice, and often 3 to 5 times the price. Our initial price might seem high if you’re not expecting to see it in a thrift-store environment, but again, these aren’t typical thrift-store items. Many buyers also are aware of the discount we are offering and are thrilled to find these items in our stores. We try to honor the quality of the product through our pricing, as well as see some return for our staff's time in handling these items and the cost involved in transporting them long distances. All that said, these higher prices only apply to certain star attraction-type furnishings and housewares that come from those premium, name-brand retailers. Our stores are full of other more typical preowned/donated items, which are priced accordingly (and, we think, favorably when compared to other thrift stores and resale shops). We hope you are able to look past the price on a few items to see that we try our best to give a great value to our customers and the community. We strive to have a mix of values within our products to accommodate those with vouchers or limited incomes. Most importantly, our customers’ continued support allows us to provide essential services to those in need. Our homeless shelters, affordable-housing units, food banks, veterans’ programs and other services depend on shoppers such as yourself. We are also able to give away hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of clothing, furniture and housewares vouchers to those in need each year. We do appreciate your feedback, and we certainly hope you consider remaining a St. Vinnie’s customer!"
