Today, I have faith that Beverly and Erik East will be able to mitigate the damage done to my family when I was too weak to stop the hate that crept in with my brother's opiate addiction! I will be posting publicly the progress we make to hold ADULTS responsible for THEIR actions and work towards providing a safe place for children to be (and not to be) so they can find peace and live a deliberate life! 5 stars today because I'm excited to see what they do with the common_wealth we have in Marion County. PSU and NNU will be tracking their progress as part of my phd! Let's visit Hiroshima in 2030 and start talking about how to live "forgiven". Too many children are living with the burden of a spiritual war they didn't engage. Let's help the kids find that peace! - Veronica Jean Anderson @ growinggenkiness.me

There is a lot of behind the scenes abuse and neglect that goes on here. There are good staff and good mentors, but many of the homes are far less than humane towards their foster youth. One from my book of experiences with Connections was actually rather recent, there is a home in which the foster mom who lives there is highly aggressive and consistently curses at and belittles the youth in her home. One of the youth I met there told me she made fun of him for being gay, and I needn't explain the reason behind why that's not okay. Further, one of my old foster parents while I was there used to keep me up at night for a couple days at a time as a punishment for whatever it was I did. The case managers (those in charge of supervising the foster parents and making sure the youth are safe and feel such) don't ever really go out of their way to help with things like that, and you can file report after report but in my experience they don't ever really read them. Don't let your kids go into the residential portion of this program, because it isn't beneficial but rather is quite detrimental to their emotional and psychological health.
