Certainly a delightful place. We decided to take a casual drive on a spring day and investigate small communities. Google maps indicates Hopewell Hub had a restaurant/gift shop. We are happy we visited. As soon as we entered, we were greeted warmly and offered samples. This is a perfect store to find a gift for that "hard to shop for" person in your life. (Buying for yourself is perfectly acceptable! ) We left with soups, locally made pot pies, part of a thunder egg with beautiful crystals, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and truffles (not the chocolate type). My wife is infusing butter with the truffles now. I can highly recommend a visit to Hopewell Hub and the three sisters who own and operate this store with a spectacular view of the Cascades.

What a spot! These sorts of places are my very favorite type of business. Part art gallery, part gift shop, part cafe...The old store is so darn cute and theyve really kept the character of the building. Its one of those places where, even though its not all that large, you could really spend some time wandering as there is a lot to discover and you dont really know what you might find. I zeroed in on lots of beautiful rock and gem specimens and beautiful artwork on the walls. They also had local honey and just lots of local goodies, which always makes me so happy. My husband and I were there for a stained glass workshop so I grabbed a hot chocolate and he got a latte, then we skedaddled on back for the fun. Both drinks were delicious, and it was extra enjoyable to have a cozy little something to sip on while we crafted. They offer a variety of classes including drawing, felting, knitting, crochet, pottery, fused glass, and print making. The stained glass class we took was a little more involved, while the week before they were doing a drop in class for Christmas ornaments that would have been fun for kids. We ended up spending about two hours on our projects, but had a great time. There were two other students who were very friendly and our instructor was knowledgeable. The price for the class was very reasonable and we would definitely take another. They would also be so fun for a girls day. At the caf along with the mix of beverages, cookies and snacks, the soups of the day were clam chowder and tomato beef barley soup. They were out of the latter by the time we were finished so grab it while you can! One of our classmates mentioned the lemonade is particularly delicious. They even have local Ruby Jewel ice cream sandwiches. Overall, while we live a little too far for this to be a quick spot to grab a snack, easy lunch or dinner, I am jealous of the locals who have this option! Two of the owners (and they are sisters, ah so sweet!) were there and they were so friendly and nice. Again, this might be a little out of my way, but that wont stop me from returning. If you are headed between Salem and McMinnville or Sheridan, stop by Hopewell Hub on your way for some goodies.
