Umpqua Valley Drum Lessons

I am a 79-year-old retired teacher and have not played an instrument since high school. After hearing Jeanette play a handpan, I wanted to play one too. Jeanette is a wonderful teacher. She is an enthusiastic, skilled instructor.

I was looking for a good drum teacher and found a great one!!! I played drums in school, but never learned to play a drum set. Janette Kangas had me playing my drum set after my first lesson. I was and still am very excited about learning to play and getting better and better. To all that read this review, if your serious about wanting to learn to play drums, this teacher is very very good. I personally believe we are blessed to have a teacher with her qualifications and experience in Roseburg. Ill close with this, its obvious she loves to teach and see her students learn the art of playing drums.

I love taking lessons at Umpqua Valley Drums! I feel like each lesson is geared towards me and my skill level as an individual. Every lesson I learn something that improves my drum skills. Ms. Jeanette is very patient and takes the time to make sure you do it right the first time. She has her masters degree in jazz studies, but can teach you how to play anything from the snare drum to a drum set. I plan to take drum lessons from her for a very long time!

I am 73 years old and have been studying with Jeanette for about a year. She has helped me grow from a total newbie to playing duets with her in public venues. I'm studying percussion (not drum kit) and have played djembe, cajon, frame drum with her. I've studied a wide variety of disciplines and view her as one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's an inspiration to me!
