This place is legit. I ordered the buffalo mac and cheese (GF, soy free, nut free, chickpea noodles) and added blue cheese, which is fantastic. The shakes are also delicious and the attention to the quality ingredients is so impressive. Ill definitely be back!! Dietary restrictions: As someone with lots of food sensitivities, I was pleasantly surprised with the accessibility of the menu.

Oh, what a delightful experience it was at this charming place a real hidden gem, with the vast expanse of empty space adding to its charm. The person working there? Oh, a true ray of sunshine, with a look that could melt hearts and a penchant for giving those exotic, weird glances to the fortunate onlookers outside. The salad, a masterpiece of culinary genius, generously adorned with an abundance of potatoes. Yet, a small suggestion a carry bag would undoubtedly elevate the experience, allowing patrons to savor the magic elsewhere. Now, let's talk about those plates sizzling, scorching hot, just the way one likes it. Who doesn't enjoy a game of "will I get burned or not" with their dinnerware? And the menu, well, it's a clever little game they play. You either embark on a journey outside the store to discover the culinary wonders or engage in the thrilling menu retrieval mission from table to counter. A true test of wit and agility. Considering the overall mood-enhancing ambiance, I could only muster up one point in my rating a nod to the captivating salad. Bravo, dear establishment, for creating an experience that truly tests the mettle of one's mood!

I have come with my wife to Daily Fuel several times and feel the need to write a review as we dined here again quite recently. She is vegan and we eat at (and love) many vegan places across the Portland Metro Area. Here are my thoughts: There is a weird vibe upon entering this place and there are strange 'rules'. Menus are on the tables, and the staff tells you to grab a table, but make sure to bring your menu up to the counter to order. All of that is ok, but one time we forgot to bring our menus up to the counter and literally felt like we were scolded for overlooking this. Additionally, they pass along the credit card surcharge to customers and this policy isn't posted anywhere. This is just a turn-off. If you want to pay the price on the menu, you'll need to pay with cash. Also, you have to ask for water which comes in bottles. This is nice although this time we needed to ask for another bottle of water and felt like we were clearly bothering the person working the counter. Uncomfortable. With all of that, the food is good but not great. If you are accustomed to cooking vegan food at home, chances are that your homemade food is just as good if not better than what you'll get at Daily Fuel. However the portions are generous and pricing is fair for what you get. One last point to share - the owner came out to chat with us recently and he actually put down a few of the other local vegan restaurants, even a few close by which we really enjoy. We've had several conversations with him and he always conveys a feeling of frustration from lack of community support for his establishment and it comes across as desperation. Although I always want to make sure to support local businesses, I unfortunately have to admit that my wife and I won't be back to Daily Fuel.

Business Response on Google Nov 11th, 2023
Aww bud. Thanks for the effort here. Let’s address a few things. There are no “rules” here. We just have common sense dinning out guidance signs to help customers that seem to have issues or difficulty figuring out how to conduct themselves when dinning out. So… as you stated, we have signs displayed saying menus are on tables… because many people can’t figure this out or see that the menus are clearly on the tables. We also have signs on the table saying, “Please bring your menus to the front counter when you order.” This is… 1.) to be out of your way when eating. 2.) because many customers wipe dirty hands & set their food on our menu books. Our 3 person staff knows/remembers who you are & we’re aware of you coming in… & nobody here “has scolded you” for not bringing menus up. You’re an adult. Nobody scolds you. That’s just silly. As the credit card system goes. This is the same credit card system used by over 1000 restaurants & food carts just in the Portland area. For us as a business to pay for all the credit card surcharge(s) to use each customers credit cards costs us about $150-200 per day. So the credit card processing system we use passes the (approx. $0.25-0.75) fee per customer transaction to the customer. (Just like every single gas station does & 1000 other restaurants in the Portland area). Otherwise we would have to pay $150-$200 every day, thus causing us to just raise our prices. So it helps us cover the cost of using a credit card processing machine & helps us keep prices lower for customers. It also CLEARLY states a cash price or credit card price on the screen when you place your order. This actually shows up on the screen YOU personally select when you choose to use your credit card. Sounds like you simply overlooked this when you decided to use your credit card instead of cash. But if you need your $0.50 back that you were charged just stop on in & we’ll gladly get that $0.50 back to you. As far as us being frustrated with the vegan restaurants… yeah. The vast majority of vegan restaurants here in town sell highly processed, fried, fake, chemical filled, straight out of a frozen bag, “food like products”. We hear from a vast majority of our customers openly say that they’re sick of all the restaurants serving fried & highly processed vegan food as well. There are hundreds of reviews on our page stating this exact same thing. People are tired of it. And so are we. That’s why we use real whole food ingredients & not chemicalized highly processed junk “food”.And finally, to address your comment regarding the sense of frustration for people in Portland not supporting vegan businesses. I will openly say… you’re right. 100%! We are frustrated. Lots of Portland vegans talk a big game. Make bold claims about “support local”. Yet 41% of vegan restaurants in Portland have gone out of business in the past year from LACK OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT. Multiple friends of ours who also own(ed) vegan restaurants have closed their businesses due to a lack of customer support. 225+ restaurants in Portland have gone out of business & over 1000 restaurants have gone out of business in the state of Oregon. All this in less than 16 months. So are we frustrated by a lack of support? Yep. Just like everyone else we speak to in the service industry who works diligently hard to produce food for people… only to have people write passive aggressive reviews, instead of just taking a minute to simply have an adult conversation with the owners who are here working everyday. We genuinely wish you well Brice. 🤙🏻We’ll see ya around. And we’ll make sure to hold that $0.50 for you at our front counter as we would like to get that back to you ASAP since it was so “off putting” for you to experience. We’re sorry you overlooked that $0.50 charge & we hope it didn’t cause you any further duress in your life.
