Dr. Jenq and her team are an affirming place to go for top surgery. I felt very well informed and supported. Plus, I'm very pleased with my surgery outcome! I "knew" I needed the surgery for years, was still a little nervous, and now, I look at myself and wonder why I waited so long - THIS IS ME! Dr. Jenq saw me for me, and now I walk through the world proud to be me! Dr. Jenq's team also handled fighting insurance on the procedure being medically necessary, which was such a relief to not have to advocate for myself all the time. So thankful for Dr. Jenq and her team!

I am non-binary and I had my top surgery (double mastectomy with free nipple grafts) with Dr. Jenq. I could not have had a better experience. Her staff was incredibly helpful and kind to me throughout the whole process. If any negative reviews exist for Dr. Jenq and her staff I want to say that my personal experience with them was everything I could have hoped for. Dr. Jenq has a wonderful bedside manner and always made me feel extremely comfortable and supported through everything. It was hard to have to show my chest to someone I didnt really know during our first consultation due to gender dysphoria but she made the process so quick and professional that it drastically improved my comfort in such a vulnerable state. Her and her staff also always respected my gender identity and used my preferred pronouns (they/them). A couple days after surgery I had a question about the binder you wear post op and I immediately was met with helpful and reassuring answers when I called the office to ask. By the time I went to my last post op appointment the front desk was calling me by name without even looking me up just because we had vibed so well. My results were exactly what I was hoping for. My recovery was also very smooth and I had no complications. If you are interested in getting gender affirming surgery or even just plastic surgery for cis people, I highly recommend Dr. Jenq and I have already referred 2 people in my life to her for similar surgeries. Please dont be discouraged by any (very few) negative reviews. I would recommend giving her a chance to prove them wrong like she did for me. She has changed my life and I will forever be grateful.

Dr. Jenq was a dream to work with. She is equal parts artist and medical doctor. While she has the confidence you want in a plastic surgeon, she also is somehow devoid of any arrogance. The staff she works with is equally kind, intelligent and capable. We honestly could not have had better care.

Office unwilling/refused to get pre-authorizations for needed surgery. Shameful behavior.

I saw Dr. Jenq for top surgery as a nonbinary person. Dr. Jenq and her office were not very supportive of me before the surgery and I ended up with results that were over-corrected and much more masculine that I wanted. This negative outcome has been really devastating to me and has changed my relationship with my body for the worse, compared to pre-surgery. I was also really uncomfortable about being asked to take my clothes off in front of the doctor for the post-surgery visits. There was also a lack of informed consent around loss of chest sensation after surgery. I had brought this up as something that was important to me and was told that sensation would be preserved with the type of surgery I was having, but that ended up only applying to nipple sensation and not to chest sensation generally. I know that it is extra hard to find a competent surgeon who can understand the nuances of nonbinary top surgery goals and have the sensitivity to not misgender nonbinary people as men. I wish that I had found a doctor who had more experience with nonbinary patients.
