Umpqua Bank

Yet another institution that has gone downhill - severely and across multiple services. Want to wire money while you are traveling. Nope, have to go into a branch. That's easy to do from Scotland. Well, let's set up an external account so we can do it that way. WRONG. Can't exceed $3k - good luck paying anything with that pathetically low amount given today's costs. Branches closing so you have to travel miles away to get anything done. And the one time I got up the muster to get to a branch and do a wire, it took nearly an hour for them to fill out the piece of paper and do it properly - really? Oh and lending? Had several mortgages with them over the years, but the latest one - they couldn't count rental income, so went right on over to Rocket Mortgage that we found not only could handle rental income, but their entire lending process made Umpqua look like amateurs. Another sad institution destined for failure.

Umpqua Bank receives one star for being a local bank and a second star for having a retail presence. They earned back the third star after a visit to the Multnomah Village branch, where manager Sher Martinez went out of her way to correct everything that was botched earlier in the day. The lose the fourth and fifth stars is based on their horrible website, which takes user UNfriendly to new heights; the online system locks me out every time (over several months) I try to login. Since there is no "password reset", I have the choice of waiting on hold (for 35 minutes) or driving to the local branch. Today, I ended up doing both, since the system dropped the call after 35 minutes. Given how banks are pushing customers toward online only, Umpqua Bank is lucky to have a few dedicated employees at the local level--like Sher--who are able to navigate the prehistoric IT nightmare Umpqua calls a website.

Anthony Mendoza Did an amazing job helping me with some pending transactions getting release back into my account due to another company double charging me. It literally took him less than 10 minutes for him to get that money back into my account for availability. Thank you so much Anthony!
