Amedisys was my assigned home health care agency when I was discharged from the hospital. Amedysis was responsible for wound care, changing the dressings 2x a week from my skin grafts and also in home Physical Therapy. My experience has been a big disappointment. Amedysis does not have enough care givers and their communication has been unacceptable. Instead of 24-48 hours to get my wound 2 times a week, I had to wait 6 days and required intervention from off-duty nurse to get a nurse. Next week, no communication and it will now be 10 days " we are down two nurses and can't cover everyone". The first in-home PT session was an interview without any exercises. A waste of time and no one followed up for next appointment. I had to make an appointment with a private physical therapist. Amedysis uses contract nurses is understaffed but continues to accept new patients. I am very disappointed with the amount of stress they have introduced to my life as I am trying to rest and heal!

The Therapists at Amedisys are committed and passionate about their patients. We have had Chris working with our mother after a fall and hospitalization, and I can tell you after working with other therapists prior to my husband passing, you would want someone like Chris working with your loved one. From Nursing to Therapy, everyone has exceeded our expectations.

Do not use this service.  I am so disappointed! I needed help for a few days out of the hospital with bathing.  I had a back fusion/laminectomy and I have an extra deep tub with shower.  I'd purchased a tall shower chair but needed help getting in and out or a method to do this post-surgery.  The hospital set me up with Amedisys for PT &OT.  20 minutes after getting home, in and settled, one of their PTs shows up.  I was so tired/and/or drugged I could hardly stay conscious while she followed me around asking me questions.  I was in a terrific amount of pain.  She followed me to the bathroom and asked. Do you always drag your feet like that?  I wanted to say, only when I'm 20 minutes out of the hospital.  I just wanted to close my eyes and sleep.  She persisted asking questions and then she said, you keep falling asleep.  REALLY!  I told her I wanted her to leave and she said, just one more thing, can you go from standing to sitting 5 times?  I resisted the urge to smack her with my cane (joke) and said, that's not going to happen, and sent her away.  I called home office next day and they apologized and said they'd send someone else.  I found out that was a male who would be helping with bathing and I also said that's not happening.  So, at this point I just need help bathing/. They sent a Occupational THERAPIST yesterday.  She could not come up with a solution, even though I told her about  an idea the OT in the hospital had.  She didn't even come prepared with a tape measure for ordering equipment. She basically shrugged and said, hmm, I don't know what you're going to do.  And off she went.   15 minutes after she left, my friend helped me implement the hospital's OTs idea and I bathed.  This company is a total disappointment and created stress for me post-surgery.  I DO NOT recommend! This company is total Ill prepared to meet the needs of post surgery patients in my opinion.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the therapists that helped my mother. Sally Spatafora, my mothers Physical Therapist and Mike Rocco, her Occupational Therapist in Portland, Oregon are the two people assigned to her. Both were excellent, kind and patient with her. After completion we both felt they had become friends and looked forward to seeing them. Most importantly, my mother has recovered nicely and they left her with some very good exercises to continue her strength training and mobility training. I would highly recommend both Sally and Mike! Absolutely horrible.  They refuse to come on a schedule. They refuse to answer questions on health plan and medication.  My mother has been home bound for 3 months because they are too lazy to put in order for portable oxygen.  They order wrong supplies.  They are short handed, nurses leaving due to poor communication. Current nurses would not react to her needs, we ended up back at hospital to confirm she had a uti and water build up.Social worker has not followed through on helping sort these issues. Need to get off hospice back to general physician in order to get a new hospice.
