Doula Love

We loved working with Doula Love for the birth of our first son! Shontee was the perfect fit for our family. She brought a healthy balance of knowledge, education, relaxation & humor to our experience. Having a doula for our pregnancy was the best decision and Doula Love made it easy to accomplish!

Jill was an amazing resource for us throughout our pregnancy and first days of parenthood. We also enjoyed the classes that were included in the price of doula services. We would absolutely use Doula Live again!

My doula, Jill, was the key to my amazing hospital birth. I unfortunately had to switch from a home birth to a hospital birth at the end of my pregnancy and Im so glad she was on my team. I absolutely needed her! Thank you Jill!

Shontee was absolutely amazing. I dont think we would have had such a healing and beautiful birth experience, despite the many challenges that came up and the changes that had to be made to what we had hoped and planned for. She offered gentle guidance and suggestions at perfect times and was always checking in to make sure I was okay or understood. During pregnancy, she went over and above with providing support - she visited our home several times and prepare my body for birth and by joining us at our birth hou up. During labor Shontee provided ways to move my body in order to create better positioning for baby when baby wasnt progressing. She helped us understand when things were moving fast or were complex. She was always advocating for me and was always checking in with me to make sure I was feeling heard. She helped make our birth one that was empowering and healing. We are so grateful for everything she brought to our journey of bringing our second child into this world!

I don't even know where to start this review! Sage was the best thing to happen to our family... now some back story!!! My husband and I moved to Portland only 10months before falling pregnant with our second son. I was very nervous because we don't have a huge support system here yet and what family we do have in the area would be dedicated to taking care of our toddler. I knew because of my previous pregnancy and delivery complications that I would have to be induced at 39 weeks and when I was about 25 weeks I started to panic. I knew I wanted more in hospital support the second time around but didn't think I could afford a doula. After some research I found Doula Love and saw that they offered a student doula service on a sliding scale! After filling out a super easy application we were approved and matched with two doula students! Sage was the first one to reach out and after a short zoom meeting I was immediately comfortable and knew that she was the one for our family! A few weeks later we had an in person meeting where she totally let me go on and on about my birth plan and helped me figure out how to communicate and prioritize my feelings! She also helped me think of some postpartum plans because at that point my brain was mush! After being induced Sage arrived when I was in active labor and was there to help me keep calm and breathe through contractions, she had a timer, got the lights down low and put up wonderful fairy lights to really keep everyone peaceful. Although some of my initial plans changed(decided to get an epidural) she was there ready to roll with the punches and was there just for me! I honestly could go on and on about all the things Sage did for me, from calming me because I was scared and nervous about delivering a huge baby to helping me with postpartum care and baby wearing I'll never be able to say enough amazing things!
