Surgeons lied to me about what recovery would look like pre-op and attempted to avoid informing me someone still in medical school would be doing the surgery.

WOW! I'm amazed with the results of my surgery. A little over 15 yrs ago I was kick in the face by my 9 month old Appaloosa. Never slap a horse on the ass in a windstorm. The first time I had reconstruction surgery was by a plastic surgeon. He did a good job, but I still wasn't quite right. When I'd eat a sandwich I would have to lift the upper left side of my lip up in order to be able to bite down without biting myself. And for the most part it layed on my lower lip when talking. And smiling, only the right side worked. So it was like having half a smile. Well to make a long story a little shorter. I went to my Doctor complaining of pain and that the left side of my face was drooping more. She took a couple X rays and found that one of the four screws in my face had broke loose. and then they had me do a cat-scan and sent the results to OHSU plastic Surgery department. About a week later I get a call from OHSU Dentistry, Oral & Maxillofacial Dept wanting to make an appointment. To tell you the truth I thought I was going to see them to get my teeth fixed. So when I got there for the appointment and the Doctor started talking about fixing the screws in my face, I was like I thought I was here to get my teeth fixed. He was like no. Then he explained to me the difference between a plastic surgeon and a Oral, Maxillofacial Surgeon. I'll tell you! if it was an accident that I got sent to them it was one of the best damn accidents I've had. My lip does not just hung there anymore. I can eat a sandwich now without having to lift my lip and my smile has improved tremendously. I asked them to do the best they could and I got a miracle. Thank you OHSU! Sincerely, Richard Anderson

I was seen and had a very good experience with Dr. Benson. I was told my insurance would be asked to authorize what needed to be done and I would then get a phone call. I never received any phone call. I called several times... No Call Back. Finally after more than a year and many messages left by me I get a phone call back and I am told I no longer can see DR. Benson because it has been too long. Too Long. This due to NO Fault of mine but I am the one is punished for this. Then I am told I can see DR. Haggerty, I say yes because I am desperate to get my teeth fixed. I see Dr. Haggerty and he tells my a completely different story that this is No Longer and Never Was a teaching school and that what DR. Benson quoted me for what needed to be done was now over $3,000. MORE!! Are You Serious?! By the way, it doesn't even matter because they STILL DON'T CALL ME BACK.
