    I always like to wait until I frequent a place 3 or more times to give a thoughtful review. After 3 visits with Dr. Danielle McCary, I can safely say that becoming a patient at Laurelhurst Chiropractic was an excellent choice to make. Dr. Danny is warm, emathetic and in tune with the type of chiropractic my body needs. Manual adjustments were too much for my body and Dr. Danny knew that based on my feedback given when she checked in with me. She then changed the style of chiropractic care to one using tools for a gentler approach. Paired with light massage work by LC's talented LMTs and heat before adjustments, I am feeling worlds better than I was not even a month ago. Dr. Danny also recommended that I seek accupuncture which I have and has been a great additon to my care. I've been to too many "crack and go" clinics which don't seem to invest in addressing what each patient needs; LC is the opposite! I believe I found the type of 'w'holistic care with Laurelhurst Chiropractic that my body has been needing.

    "I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Phil McCary on my initial visit. He did an excellent job adjusting me and I felt immediate relief. The building is lovely, adding to the overall pleasant atmosphere. His staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, making me feel at ease from the moment I walked in. Highly recommend!"

    Just a heads up that you should not under any circumstance consider receiving any sort of care from this business unless you want to deal with the hell that is their insurance policy and their inept billing office. They send bills 2+ years later with fictitious care charges under the guise of them cleaning up their billing practices then immediately send you to collections if you refuse to pay what is a bogus charge. I went for chiropractic care and they charged for physical therapy, backbilling their charges for care that does not and did not align with my insurance policy and copay. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Laurelhurst Chiropractic has also been dismissive of the BBB and said its not their problem. They are quick to distance themselves from being at fault and blame everyone but themselves all under the guise of recouping ~$100. What a scam. I am not the first to run into this issue even on Yelp reviews as you can see the review by S C in September 2023 reflects the same issues. Do not come here unless you want to deal with a billing scam run by duplicitous people *(not to mention unkind). Hope this helps! EDIT: in response to the owner replying below, would love to clear up some misconceptions they tried to outline - not only was I surprised to receive a bill 2+ years after treatment, imagine my surprise when they threw in some physical therapy treatments. At the time, I was going to Therapydia, a wonderful business down the street, for my physical therapy. So if you want to pull receipts Phil, this is not where you want to go. Additionally their front office is quite rude and dismissive. So while the owner below is playing nice, behind the scenes they are awful to deal with. And regarding the treatment diagnosis and treatment plan being emailed, that is simply false - I have the email receipts to prove I never received this. My insurance even mentioned that a business like this was not authorized to provided treatment according to the codes billed fraudulently to me. Additionally, the business sent me straight to collections instead of waiting for insurance to reprocess and review the claims and did not engage with the Better Business Bureau in a prompt fashion, although they are an accredited BBB business. Please reach out to me and I can recommend at least 5 other businesses in the greater Portland metro area that will provide quality treatment without the hassle these folks will put you through.

This is a truly sad message for us to receive, but we are glad that it will give us a chance to publicly explain our billing practices. Privacy laws prevent any specific response as we cannot even confirm or deny if this person was a patient. Here is some information on insurance and billing generally https://laurelhurstchiropractic.com/insurance-and-billing-at-our-chiropractic-office/ . For every patient we perform an insurance verification. This will list every code we anticipate may be billed and what the insurance company tells us they will cover. That document is sent to the patient to electronically review and sign. We also give the patient a printed copy at their first or second appointment. A second document is written up by the doctor with the diagnosis, treatment plan, and each modality the doctor anticipates using and why. That document is emailed to the patient and reviewed with them in person at their second appointment. The patient’s insurance company will also send out explanation of benefits forms with the codes billed at each visit and the patient’s responsibility to pay or not pay.Despite these multiple efforts some patients will still be surprised when they get a bill. While we sympathize with them as insurance billing is confusing, we feel we do as much as we can to prepare the patient for this.Regarding old bills being sent we again sympathize with being upset. No one likes to get a bill in the mail, and no one likes an old bill. When we send bills it is only after we have double checked with the insurance company and with our records what services were performed to make sure the statement is correct. Patients will be sent at least three notices, by mail and electronically before being sent to collections. We never want to do that, but at some point, must.In the hypothetical situation someone was to dispute a bill, we would again double check the charges were correct. We would double check that the insurance portion was correctly paid. We would go back and forth, perhaps for several weeks trying to explain this all to the patient. We would then potentially offer to reduce the bill in a show of good faith. Hypothetically all those efforts may not be good enough for some former patients.
