Patricia B. on Yelp

image On 12/28/18,  the day after my total right knee replacement, a PT was in a hurry and did not hold onto the safety strap.I crashed all over the sharp edge of practice stairs and bled for over 24 hours. Right after the crash, Providence Hospital released me with no tests. The results were:-an ER visit 3 days later- having complete urinary incontinence for a year following-a year of  severe tibia, knee, and hip pain that made PT for for my knee impossible.-having to miss three 5k runs I'd signed up for in 2018(I actually did the 5k June 2018 Starlight Run BEFORE both knees were replaced.) I had the left knee done successfully in August 2018 with a responsible physical therapist who made sure my ride knew he must hold onto the safety belt, especially on stairs.- having to early retire at 62 because the fall caused my lower back to be in horrific pain and I would need to lose more work time due to an unexpected back surgery.-having to have spinal surgery-two rods, a cage, and pedicle screws--that I never intended to have, as I had kept it pain free for two years with exercise-12 weeks of terrible pain from the spinal surgery.-gaining 30 pounds due to inability to exercise.-losing my job of two years and the employee stock which I'd planned to earn by working another 10 years. The loss was because I could no longer stand, which my job required.-13 months of limping and having to use a walker, someone's arm, and store motorcarts in order to walk.-extreme emotional distress, pain, and suffering for 13 months-having to live on credit cards and getting into terrible debt.-and much more.-Providence called the crash a "lack of communication" in all medical notes.-Providence claims manager said it was my fault for not following directions! It took no responsibility.-Providence never sent me to a cardiologist in 2019, despite a year of chronic coughing and breathlessness and a history of heart disease. In October 2019, I switched to Legacy for obvious reasons.-a Legacy Urologist stopped the incontinence after 13 months, in January 2020. -a Cardiologist found four major arteries in my heart blocked over 80% in January 2020.-a three-day hospital stay to get 2 stents in my LAD and one in my circumflex and diagonal arteries and to start recovering.- having another three-day hospital stay due to chronic pulminary disease.-both of the above hospital stays were in February 2020.-My Legacy physical therapist diagnosed my painful tibia, knee, and hip 13 months after the Providence hospital crash.-I have no reflex in the injured leg.-I have JUST BEGUN physical therapy with Legacy for the injured leg from the 12/28/18 Providence Hospital crash.Providence claims manager says it was my fault for not following directions, which would not matter even if it were true, as the PT was standing away from me as I ascended the stairs, not holding onto the safety belt as required. This hospital administration has not apologized or taken any responsibility as of 2/22/2020.What would you say 14 months of a human life is worth? That negligent physical therapist and Providence failing to honor their mission statement of compassion, dignity, justice, integrity, excellence honor, dignity, took 14 months of mine.
