When I went to Sunnybrook Chiropractic to get treated for a back injury, I was not expecting to be asked extremely personal, irrelevant questions on their intake form. For instance, I was asked to answer if I've ever had a venereal disease, a miscarriage, or an abortion. The language venereal disease is outdated, and the other questions are neither medically necessary or necessary for insurance, I have checked with other practices. When I expressed my upset to the practice manager or owner, I'm not sure who he was, one of his responses was that he understood how triggering some of those questions were, because his wife has had a miscarriage. His response was patronizing, rude, and invalidating. In addition to this, the so-called massage therapist I saw looked like a teenager, didn't ask any questions about what was hurting, or what kind of massage I was hoping to get, or anything, was rude, and gave me a massage that felt like a waste of time. I was already skeptical of chiropractic treatments, but this place showed me that it's a total farce.
