Not only did this company do accurate water testing; they also were able to quickly provide me with the results again 8 years after the fact.

I called this research lab in regards to the analysis of a mystery powder. The person who answered the phone was respectful but not knowledgeable about the analytical techniques needed to perform the analysis I needed. She referred me to a "chemist" working at this lab. After describing my situation, the chemist answered very rudely that "this isn't CSI, we can't just test for something unless you tell us what to test for". I proceeded to explain that I just needed my sample run through an LC-MS machine and that this technology does indeed exist. She replied rudely "while if that technology even does exist I've never heard of it". Chromatography has been around since 1900, and LC-MS has been around since the late 1960s. I have found another lab which happily took my request and will be providing results expediently. Although this is primarily a water testing lab this lack of competency calls into question the competency of their staff.
