98 Restoration

Beware I hired 98 Restoration for extensive remodel in August 2022. Work still isnt completed. Didnt pull permits as required. Owner no longer returns calls. Worst experience of my life. He owes me thousands of dollars as we have been in the penalty phase of the project since December 2023.

I have had 98 Restoration now for moss treatment and now for plumbing. The plumber was polite. answered questions and gave me options. Customer service is very important to these people. Service: General construction

We hired Curtis in January of 2023 to renovate our 2 houses in Ashland. He completely dropped the ball and did not finish any of the items we hired him for and spent much of his time on the jobsite ripping things out, then re-ripping them out, doing demo work and never completing one aspect of the job. Even his subcontractors made mistakes due to his instructions and he has never offered to correct these mistakes. We live out of state and were in contact every week with pictures and texts and could see that he was not making progress and would not finish anything according to our agreed to time schedule. In early September we flew to Oregon and met with him with a new contractor, our realtor and another construction professional and walked Curtis through the house and showed him everything that was demoed and not completed and all the work that he had done that was incorrect and not to code and would have to be redone. He agreed with our findings and signed a promissary note on Sept 29 to repay $30,760.00 of the monies we had paid him. He sent me a check for $5000.00 towards that debt in Oct and we have had no further payments. There are 3 other women that have filed suit against him in the Grand Jury and we are sure an indictment will be issued soon. NO ONE SHOULD HIRE THIS COMPANY OR CURTIS BUCKELEW FOR ANY CONTRACTING WORK AS HIS CONTRACTORS LICENSE IS LISTED AS EXPIRED ON THE CCB WEBSITE. ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE OF A COMPANY WITH NO IDEA OF WHAT A PROPER JOB LOOKS LIKE OR HOW DO DO ONE.

I got a call from the Talent police asking about Curtis Bucklew who owns 98Restoration. The district attorney is currently investigating him. Apparently he has a pattern of going after older women who are single. I was called into testify as the shoddy workmanship his company left behind has cost me thousands and thousands of dollars and years of delay. I just had another failed inspection yesterday for the mechanical permit. I asked him three times to install a fan in the bathroom that summer because it was over 100 and I was concerned about his employees. Apparently he doesnt care about customers, or his employees, because he finally had them install a fan which is too small to be up to code and which does not vent anywhere as there is nothing on the other side of it.

This was a nightmare remodel. Curtis said 3 months, add a month for ordered windows, but it took over 10 months and not because of product delay. It was just poor management. I was repeatedly lied to about how the project was going. Cabinets were not even measured for until 7 months into the project. I was told repeatedly that we were ok budget wise. I asked several times to see the accounting, but was never given any details until the day he came into my home and told me we were $32,000 over budget on a $74,000 remodel. You tell me, does that sound like good management? The workers, for the most part, were great, except on the occasions one showed up drunk or high, wondering around the house doing more damage than good. And how many times does it seem reasonable to get the wrong color paint? Projects were done, then someone would mess them up and they would have to be redone, over and over and over. Nightmare! If I had it to do again, I would not hire 98 Restoration. Lots of people think they can paint. Lots of people think they can be a general contractor, it is just not so. Now Curtis has told people that our issues have been resolved. That is totally NOT true. I believe he lies consistently and is basically a thief. Service: Home renovations
