My wife had an extraction and implant rod done here. They sent us home with no instruction other than when the next dose of Ibuprofen could be given. We were handed paperwork and some prescriptions. Later that evening my wife had me look at a plastic-like film that was on her gums, but neither of us knew what it was or why she had stitches two teeth over. Later that evening the surgeon called, but told her he wasnt sure what she was talking about without her coming in to see him. On day three of healing we looked up information online and she apparently was supposed to be wearing her retainer on day one, and she has signs of having a bone graph. The surgeon couldnt tell her what he did 6 hours after he performed the surgery?? The pharmacist gave me more information about her prescriptions than this office did. We will NOT go back here.

Dr Doherty appears to be quite experienced and a good dental surgeon. If you're thinking about an implant though I would suggest going beyond the website of the professional association promoting dental implants. Check out the Cochrane collection as well as the journal of evidence-based dentistry. you may decide that you're better off having the tooth extracted and if necessary the bone built up and then having a less drastic procedure like a bridge. I had my crown put on the abutment from the implant a few days ago and, because the dentist used a lab in another state, or perhaps another country to save himself money the tooth is not well aligned larger than the surrounding teeth. I subsequently learned when I flossed the first time afterwards that it's very narrow near the gum, unlike normal teeth which don't change diameter at the gum line, which means close attention has to be paid while brushing and flossing to avoid gum infection. A study in Europe found that 9 years after implant surgery 77% of patients had gum problems at the implant. Do your homework thoroughly before agreeing to anything you are going to have to live with the rest of your life.

I recently had an experience with Dr. Doherty and his team. My significant other had his wisdom teeth removed. I was astonished by the professionalism and kindness shown by him and his staff. As someone who is a part of the dental field, instructions and numbers can be VERY confusing (especially regarding finances, they presented us with an option for finance through care credit, as we dont have dental insurance). Any question we had was answered thoroughly, and Dr. Doherty even called after the procedure (around 8 oclock, when many of us are home with our families). He was very considerate when reaching out to make sure that my significant other was comfortable and moving properly through his recovery! Remember to ask if you dont understand! Dentistry is foreign to many, but asking questions is how you figure it out! All I can say is I am very thankful we chose/were referred to this office. I highly recommend Dr. Doherty and his team to anyone needing oral surgery!

I didn't end up getting the work I needed done here, because the front staff was just impossible. I had a consultation with Dr. Doherty, which went fine and he told me what I would need to pay at the time of my extraction and bone graft, and what would be billed at the time of my implant, several months later. He knew that I didn't have insurance at the consultation (in Dec), but would be getting back on my former plan in March. I left, thinking Great! How nice of him to be willing to work with me and offer to delay some of the billing until the next appointment. Then, a few days before my procedure (10 days before Christmas) I got my appointment reminder call. Oddly she asked what procedure I was having, then proceeded to tell me I would need to pay more than triple the amount quoted by the doctor. I told her that was outrageous and asked what the point of the consultation was, if not to clarify these things and make a plan for both parties to honor. After consulting with some one, she said I would still need to pay more than double the original amount, because I might not come back. There was, of course, more to this conversation, but the important thing was her flippant attitude toward my situation and the disregarding of the agreed upon payment plan. My dentist says that Dr. Doherty is very good, so this isn't about his ability. There is dysfunctional communication between him, his staff and the patient. Sadly the patient is expected to compensate for that. I wasn't going to write a review, but seeing that another person also had trouble with the billing side of this business, I thought you should be forewarned to get everything in writing and ask plenty of questions.
