October 11th 2023 I was wrongfully charged $30,000 for a surgery that was completely unnecessary. I was seen by two doctors affiliated with Willamete Valley Medical Center and properly diagnosed; however I endured having been mal practiced on by Doctor Katie L Johnson MD. Since it is the doctors who write the medical codes for billing; doctor Katie Johnson coded my surgery for a major surgery when it was only a minor surgery which allows for them to charge infinitely more money to the recipient. She was quicker to cut without knowing what she was there to operate on day of surgery. Days before the surgery, she pointed to the reason for my visit and stated she was almost positive what she needed to do and gave me treatment options; the only question she had was if the infection was deeper in the muscle or surface layer; she informed me that she needed to put me in anesthesia to further investigate and treat it accordingly. I woke up after the surgery, not only to be left in the dark as she did not come to tell me what happened after the procedure, I went home and took a picture of myself in the mirror and found my problem was still there and nothing visually different. I called her the following day with my wife next to me, in which I asked what did you do? After she explained I told her my problem was still there and the area she described on the phone was not even close to my problem...I asked if I could come in to show her my picture of the area. She showed me what she did and I verified to her that she completely missed the whole reason I came in for a consultation and surgery. To make matters worse, she realized she messed up and offered to cut me right then and there to relieve the wound...this is across the street from the hospital...not even at Willamette...She said these words to me these things happen I reported her to the board for investigation and will be hiring a lawyer to see if indeed there are more people out there who are being wrongfully charged and having mal practice on. Ive already called willamette valleys number. I called for a month and had to actually physically go into the hospital to talk to someone. P.S. The other surgeon I went to visit in Washington told me that $30,000 for removing a skin tag...is fishy....as I am sure you are aware...My brother had surgery on his broken clavicle bone and it only cost him $11,000. My surgery was a minor surgery with no stitches, and I went home a few hours after having been there. I got the itemized bill and I had and the hospital charged me around $7,000 for being in a room right after my surgery for a little over an hour....This hospital is a joke and doctor Katie Johnson tried to tell the board it was an exploratory surgery... no more than word games to cover herself. $30,000 just guessing surgery; be aware.
