Our experience at Living Wholehearted was life changing! What an incredibly gifted group of caring clinicians. Their approach was perfectly tailored to our needs. I have referred several people there and will continue!!

The team at Living Wholehearted has really been key in my spouse and I working through difficult marital challenges, life challenges and differing parenting styles that were hitting us hard all at once. They really took us through a process in the most challenging time which not only allowed us to work through the problems but to also understand one another better and work to strengthen our relationship and get us back on track to a happy marriage. They were clear in letting us know the work wasnt going to be done in X amount of sessions, that it would take an undecided amount of time, our commitment, a process they would take us through and we trusted them to take us from beginning to end. We did meet with 2 counselors. We each met with someone different for individual counseling and then one of those same people for the joint counseling which despite being focused on the cost at first (b/c Im a numbers guy and was new to counseling), wound up being the best way to address everything that was going on and learning each persons experiences regarding the same issues and figuring out where we actually had similar ideas and goals but didnt realize it b/c our communication had broken down! I am so glad we trusted in their process, that our marriage was in their hands and that they wanted to bring us full circle. It has been about 4 years and we have not looked back. If we stumble, we turn to the tools they gave us, take a step back and work through them. We have also used the services for our young daughter when she was experiencing severe school separation anxiety that she just could not seem to overcome with the help of her school counselor and us. They helped her understand what exactly it was she was feeling, tools to work through it and she has not had a problem for several years now! We work better as a family knowing the team at Living Wholehearted is in our court and do not hesitate to lean on them when things come up! We plan to use them if and when circumstances arise in the future!

My wife and my family have all had wonderful experiences with living whole hearted! Initially, my wife and I went to one of their marriage retreats. We found it to be honest and helpful, and gave us ample time to talk through things that we were working through with each other in a spirit of openness and accountability. We got individual time with a counselor, and went away with renewed passion and hope and tools to continue working on our stuff. After this, we were so thankful that we went back with our two teenage kids Which was in one of the most amazing experiences weve ever had as a family. It opened the door for growth for each of them, as well as for our family unit to grow together. I would highly recommend living whole hearted to anyone who sincerely wants to do whatever it takes to make their relationships more successful. I cannot speak highly enough about them!

Speaking from my own experience here: If you and your spouse are going through a rough season, including resentment and trust issues, and your spouse asks that you go to Living Wholehearted with him or her for marriage counseling, please respond by saying "I am happy to go to marriage counseling with you, just not at Living Wholehearted." Living Wholehearted, in my experience, tended to be arbitrary moralistic, including employing the use of expensive lie detector tests for various purity violations such as to prove/disprove the viewing of porn, as well as using evangelical Christian doctrine as a ruler for why something is good vs bad. They encourage the use of 3 different counselors: one for each spouse and a third for couples counseling, which when you and your therapist is in a room with your spouse and their therapist, it is really awkward and can feel like legal arbitration or mediation, except more expensive at $415 for a 2-counselor 45 minute session. They have a tendency to view marriage problems as addictions that need to be resolved separately over a 6-12 month period before any couples work can begin. And yes, Living Wholehearted absolutely uses and encourages lie detector tests when there are any trust issues involved. If I had known that I was going to be ambushed on my FIRST appointment not with Lets begin a marriage dialogue. Tell me whats going on.... but with a "Your spouse is angry about the porn. I told her I offer purity polygraph tests. So your spouse wants you to take it before she will let you come home. This is a 2-hr test that will ask you every intentional or accidental sexual exposure and event done by you or to you since you were born. Including whether or not youve ever had lustful thoughts or if youve ever exposed yourself in public... and in public even means peeing in a forest on a camping trip. If you want to win trust back and come home then I encourage you to take my test. I have a buddy who will administer this to you in 3 months from now. So you have a lot of time to prepare and think about and remember and every sexual event so you dont fail the test and thereby end your marriage, Then I would absolutely have run the other way. If I had seen any reviews on Yelp or Google that told me this, it would have saved my marriage and several thousand dollars. According to the polygraph examiner, my counselor at Living Wholehearted makes up 2-3 of his monthly clients.
