Go to a corporate chain, spend more, marvel (or complain about) the "free" breakfast, enjoy schlepping your bags in a long corridor where doors slam like a prison block.
Meanwhile I prefer the small businesses where a dollar spent stays in the community. I park right outside the door, I chat with a friendly owner or clerk.
Their little town is walkable, the shower and heat work great, it's quiet. Yes, I won't accumulate Best Western points - good, that's one less thing to track.

This is my new job, and the employer is very helpful and friendly. Also the rooms have been upgraded.

Since covid hit, I avoid big chain hotels and support the small mom and pop businesses. I picked this motel because reviews seemed good and it was a little motel .
Checked into my room and it was very nice and clean , great size for sleep in a quiet neighborhood off the main streets . Lady in office was super nice.
There is a mobile mini mart a block away with lots of fast food and drinks and a deli .
I've paid 3x the rate for other motels that weren't as nice and comfortable as this place. If your just looking for a quiet , clean , bed and TV and shower to rest, this is the place .

We stopped here for the night after I84 was closed. The location is extremely convenient. The customer service of the owner was very nice and the room was very clean.
