Tax Minimizers of Oregon Inc.

We have used Tax Minimizers of Oregon for many years. This year, 2024, they held our return for 3 weeks, and we had to call to remind them to do it. Also, they suddenly raised their fee for the same exact return we've been filing by $275. They claimed we were receiving a "courtesy fee" in previous years, but we were never told about it. We were not told in advance they were raising the fee and were unprepared to pay this unaffordable increase. We asked for an itemized invoice showing how long it took to do our return, and even though the preparer had done it 24-48 hours before, she claimed she "didn't know how long it took" and they were "basing the fee on an average of 5 hours." There's NO WAY our return took 5 hours. We had filled out a booklet with all of our figures and all they had to do was input it and check for errors. I asked 3 other accountants and they all said both the fee and the "average time to prepare the return" was excessive. Basing the fee "on an average" instead of actual time spent is unethical and fraudulent.
