However, we have to cancel.It is still occupied. They are purchasing a home and unfortunately, it is still an escrow."CS "Got it! Would you like to reschedule?"Rhonda "Possibly, how I don't have a clear date of when to reschedule at this point."CS "Oh, your appt is tomorrow. We do however have a cancellation fee when appts are cancelled the day prior. We can reschedule to a future day that may work to avoid that fee?"Rhonda "I was never informed of a cancellation fee. I don't believe I signed anything regarding a cancellation fee"CS "It’s on both email reminders."Rhonda "I won't be paying to cancellation fee. I never signed a contract with you. I could understand if your technician showed up to the property and we were a no-show, but this is plenty of notice for cancellation."CS "I would be happy to reschedule the appt to avoid that."Rhonda "You are not a doctors office and I've never heard of a cancellation fee with a carpet cleaning place. I can guarantee you we have multiple rentals and I certainly would not do business with somebody who is threatening me. A fee for services is not rendered. I think this is bad business and unacceptable."CS "I understand, however that is our policy unfortunately."Rhonda "Regardless of your policy, I will not be paying a cancellation fee. I suppose you could send it to collections. It will cost you more to collect your cancellation fee, not to mention losing our business, including future business. In addition, my sister-in-law has multiple rentals I was going to refer you to after we saw what kind of service you guys performed. The tenants not moving out due to their escrow being prolonged is not our fault."This is where I (one of the owners) stepped in because Rhonda was clearly aggravated and attacking our staff.ME "It’s costing me more to read this conversation. I do not know why you are so upset with us when you are cancelling your appointment. I will waive the fee, and we will place you on a do not contact/do not service list. Please do not reach out to us for services in the future."So.... I will leave it up to you... Were we being unfair? We sent out 2 job confirmations, 2 emails that stated our cancellation policy (one at time of job creation, and one the day before service) and 1 reminder text the day before service. Our staff is awesome, and never "threatened" a cancellation fee, but simply stated and reminded Rhonda about the fee while offering several times to waive the fee. I would love to hear your feedback!
