Clair Lu Apartments

I give this place between 3 and 4 stars. The 4 stars are for the price for how large this one bedroom place is with a full kitchen and private bathroom in an area where rent is astronomically expensive. The 3 star is for the smoke smell in the apartment upon moving in,the carpets not properly vacuumed or cleaned before moving in and poor patch jobs on the walls as well as smoke stains and a little water damage in the bathroom. The plus side of this place is the water pressure and hot water are fantastic, there is a great roof overhang which allows for the windows to stay open despite rain (except if its stormy or super windy!) and you get decent air circulating in the apartment. It stays fairly cool in here except when it gets above 80 degrees outside. I've noticed it maintains a comfortable 72 indoors. The walls are decently thick and I rarely hear the neighbors and it seems to only be loud outside on the weekends due to college parties. The neighborhood is definitely sketchy so dont leave valuable things in your car. The parking is a little bit odd and it's one-way in slanted parking and you exit through a one-way alley that sometimes gets blocked by trucks or other vehicles. I would say the complex is decently lit at night. One drawback is the garbage does not get picked up as often as it should and the dumpster is always overflowing and there is trash everywhere in the parking lot. It makes it appear gross and tacky. The apartment itself has character in all its wear and tear and I personally like it and feel at home. I would recommend this place to a person or couple who do not have small children and by small, I mean toddler/preschool age due to the amount of stairs on the complex site and the constant trash out in the parking lot.

It's small with a odd lay-out. Cost of laundry is crazy so I got a portable washer.. Best thing I've purchased in a lllooonnnggg time. If you don't mind college frat house noise and traffic, it's perfect for 1 person or 2 if you don't care about tight space..

Visited and did an apartment viewing. They were late meeting me there, the area is a little on the sketchy side and the apartments are meh.
