I should have known by all the horrible reviews what to expect, but I wanted to give her the benefit of a doubt. I can forgive her rushing through the appointment (doctors are busy and I respect that), and I have no problem with doctors being straightforward and to the point... She, however, was incredibly dismissive about everything I had to say and did a really poor job at explaining or communicating any information about anything to me ( I have no idea what her actual diagnosis was, considering it had absolutely nothing to do with anything I was experiencing. She also ordered 2 out of 3 panels of blood work without discussing or asking me about it first). What little information she did give was contradictory, and it seemed like she didn't even bother to read anything in my chart. She was dismissive of my comfort/pain (didn't even address the area that was giving me issues), she asked very little about my symptoms or what I was experiencing, and just overall seemed like she didn't care about anything but getting me out of there. I guess she's great if you have zero problems, you don't mind someone who is rough, and if you don't care about poor bedside manner. Edited for follow up notes: After going over my chart and paperwork, I was not pleased to see that not only was Dr. Betterton dismissive, but she made several false and inaccurate notes about our interaction and what was said. I am not sure if she couldnt hear me properly, but I would have had no problem repeating myself if that were the case. Considering she was using paperwork from nearly 5 months ago (no one even asked me to fill out new paperwork), I did let her know and tried to inform her about what was currently different, including important information about medications. She also falsified the reason I gave her as to why I cant take hormones (having heart disease and being exacerbated by hormones as one of them. Her notes stated "mood" as being my reason...This is incredibly insulting, considering she even said this to me when we spoke about it. I corrected her, and explained about that it exacerbated my heart problem, not my mood. She decided to write down "mood" anyway, apparently...). I dont like that my character and my words were completely misrepresented, and because I was not offered or asked if I would like to have any nurse be present during any part of my whole interaction (exam included), now, unfortunately, it is just my word against hers. I highly encourage new patients to take the bad reviews seriously.

There is nothing wrong with this place, that negative reviews is off-putting I love Dr. Betterton, she is very personable and comforting when and if she has bad news to tell me

I have now had two appointments with Dr. Betterton. First was a routine pap where I was I definitely rushed out of there. It wasn't a big deal and I chalked it up to her being pressed for time or under pressure. My second appointment with her was the absolute worst interaction I have EVER had with a medical provider. Before she even came in I could hear her yelling at her staff about me, how I shouldn't be there because I recently had surgery. I had called and checked with her office and had no less than 2 confirmations that I could still come in. The door was closed but I could hear her berating her assistant and yelling about me. It was so embarrassing. When I tried to give her my medical history she interrupted me every time. EVERY SINGLE TIME. She told me I had no issues, she could tell by just looking at me (literally, she said "by looking at you..."). I have confirmed diagnostic tests from other physicians verifying there was an issue but she could tell by looking at me for 5 minutes that I had none of those problems. She even scoffed at my results and said those tests used bad methods and wouldn't even hear about my symptoms. I left crying and completely deflated. I was looking for an ally and some medical help. Instead I left with an even deeper distrust of her and her office. I will never go again.
