Bags of Love is probably the best charity ever! The volunteers do such wonderful things to make every child feel special! Bags of Love is changing lives of children and everyone has a part in making it special.

I hate having to write this review but I think it needs to be done and I'm wondering how many other parents who got these bags, have experienced a similar thing. I have never received welfare or charities services before in my adulthood and so I wasn't knowing what to expect. It was volunteered by my caseworker. I looked at the website briefly and I'm all about charities (for the most part) as they do help some people. My concern with parents receiving these bags for the holidays, which I saw a lot of in the DHS office is that they're supplemental for the holidays. As in they're expecting a gift or two, to put under the tree. Now with the "big" thing I got, a long with the smaller items, you cannot wrap those and put them under a tree. They're beat up and just not that nice. I know, beggers can't be choosers but I am disappointed in what I saw and regardless of any moral grandstanding, kids DO deserve nice toys, regardless of their parents socioeconomic status. If other children are getting a similar thing, I think better can be done. They'd be good as a thrift store purchase, maybe, but not for Christmas. My issue is that these are being supplemented as Christmas presents and I KNOW a ton of brand new presents go to toy charities, whether those nice presents ever reach their intended demographic is unknown but at least with my son, it wasn't. If it's not meant to be supplemental for the holidays, okay, then it's great, but I think it is and if that's the case, that's not good for kids whos parents have no other means for gift giving. Just my two cents. Obviously you're doing something good.

I hope the lady that was on the phone for this company is not the owner. She was very rude over an order to be dropped off. She would not calm down. As a representative of a non-profit with an order for drop off, that she requested for delivery TODAY when they are closed... terrible. And terrible representation for a children's non-profit.

Business Response on Google Jan 3rd, 2024
Julian, it sounds like you were misled as to what Bags of Love does. We are a nonprofit who helps children in crisis due to abuse, neglect, poverty, homelessness or disaster. We provide one-time immediate, critical assist with necessities and comfort items such as toiletries such as a toothbrush and soap, clothing and school supplies. The bags are free to recipients and to agency partners. We try and include some toys and activities but we are very reliant upon community donations for those since all of our funding comes from our community. It sounds like if you were looking for Christmas presents that Toys for Tots or some other holiday driven nonprofit might have suited you better than necessity items intended for children in crisis.
